Page Four Social Doings Around Town BEAUTIFUL CHURCH WEDDING UNITES WOLF POINT COUPLE Margaret Marion Toavs became the bride of Thomas Roy Heidner at a beautiful church wedding last Friday evening, March 22. The Reverend Albert Ewert said the rites at the candelight single ring ceremony at the Bethel church in the presence of nearly 200 guests. Attendants were Rosie Veer, cousin of the bride from Langdon N. Dak., and Donald Heidner, brother of the groom. The bride was given in marriage by her father, N. F. Toavs. She was attired in a white satin wed ding gown with a full length veil and train and carried a bridal bou quet of talisman roses. The brides maid wore a pink formal with a shoulder length veil and carried Colombia roses. The flower girls were the twin nieces of the bride, the Misses Verna and Violet Krahn. Hanah Toavs, sister of the bride carried the bride’s veil and Warren Toavs, William Twitchell Marries Fallon Girl ait Frazer Mary M. Gebhardt became the bride of William Arthur Twitchell at a quiet church ceremony at Frazer last Saturday evening, with the Reverend E. J. Bott of the Bethel Evangelical church per forming the beautiful double ring cereniony. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was at tired in a white satin floor length formal with net over-skirt and carried a bouquet of mixed sweet peas, carnations and snapdragons. Ushers were the twins, Marvin and Monroe Bartel. James and Bobby Toavs lighted the candles and Ruth and Elizabeth Toavs sang “Take the Name of Jesus with You." Mrs. Herb Dyck sang “Together with Jesus” and “Step by Step.” The wedding inarch was played by Mrs. Lloyd Baker. After the ceremony, a recep tion was held for the wedding guests in the church parlors and the happy couple received the congratulations and many lovely gifts from their friends. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. F. Toavs of Wolf Point and is a graduate of the Wolf Point high school. The groom is the son of Nelson Heidner of the same community and is also a graduate of the same school. They will make their home on a farm northeast of Wolf Point. al dark blue suit with a white carnation boutoniere. The wedding was attended by a small group of close friends and relatives. A wedding supper was given following the ceremony at the bride’s home. A lovely wedding cake was served to the guests. Mrs. Twitchell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Gebhardt of Fallon and is a graduate of the Mildred high school and of the Eastern Montana State normal. She has followed the teaching pro fession since graduation. The groom is the son of Mr. James Twitchell of Frazer and has recently returned from four years army service, 13 months of which was spent in overseas duty. Mr. and Mrs. Twitchell will make their home on the groom's ranch south of Frazer. Roy Hansen Family Hold Grand Reunion In Wolf Point Sun. For the first time in about three and half years, the Roy Hansen family were together at their home in Wolf Point last Sunday. With four boys in service, Mr. and Mrs. Hansen feel themselves very fortunate to find them al! home and in fine ^health at this time. Clifford returned from Guam and was discharged from the navy some time ago. as were Vernon, who served with the air corps in both the ETO and SWPA and Harold in t)he ETO. Which leaves Richard, the youngest who ar rived from his station at San Diego last week end for the re union. He is in the U. S. navy ser vice. BIRTHDAY PARTY Mrs. Delbert Blair was hostess at a bridge party at her home in Wolf Point honoring Mrs. Mads Ibsen on her birthday, Thursday evening. March 21. Those present were Mrs. Harry Dasinger, Mrs. Einar Traehok, Mrs. Walter Burt, Mrs. Obert Nyland, Mrs. Henrietta Evans, Mrs. Ida Jensen and Jo Tilton, and Mrs. Ibsen and Mrs. Blair. Mrs. Traeholt won high score, Ida Jensen, traveling prize and Jo Tilton, low prize. GUESTS AT CASEY HOME Mr. and Mrs. Roy Arntzen from Whitetail, Mont., were visitors at the Jim Casey home last week end. Mrs. Arntzen and Miss Goss lin were formerly employed at the same establishment in the Twin Cities. THE HERALD-NEWS —- Woif Point, Roosevelt County, Montana Magne Hammar Takes Southern Bride Thursday Miss Almareta Hartwell and Magne Hammar were united in marriage at the First Lutheran church of Wolf Point on Thursday, March 21, 1946 with the Reverend Rolf A. Normann officiating. Attendants were Miss Audrey Sorenson and Lloyd Hammar, brother of the groom. The bride wore a navy blue tailored suit with a red rose and white sweet pea corsage and the bridesmaid wore a brown suit with red rose corsage. The groom’s mother wore a black suit with a red rose corsage. Mrs, Hammar is the daughter of Mr. Phillip Bell of Campbell, Mo., and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Hammar of the north Wolf Point community, and is a veteran of World war 11. Only a few close friends and relatives of the couple were pres ent for the ceremony and for the wedding dinner held at the Wolf Point case immediately after the wedding. A beautiful wedding cake top ped by a miniature bride and groom was made by the groom’s mother and served to the guests who were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sorenson and daughters, Rosemary and Audrey and Miss Millie Lan gager, Mr. and Mrs. Lars Hammar and son Lloyd and Mr. and Mrs. Magne Hammar. The couple will make their home at Wolf Point. Pocket Testament Banquet Is Held At Church Monday The ladies of the WMF of the First Lutheran entertained 90 young people at a pocket testa ment banquet last Monday eve ning. Pastor V. Boe of Scobey was the speaker. Vocal solos were sung by Miss Olive Wold of Wat ford City, N. Dak., and Miss Ver nie Lou Grayson. Special guests were the members of the senior confirmation class. DINNER GUESTS Dr. and Mrs. J. C. Moses enter tained at dinner Tuesday evening. NEWS BRIEFS OF INTEREST Pat Atkinson spent Thursday evening visiting at her home in Poplar. E. M. Krost, deputy state game warden was a business caller in Wolf Point last Thursday evening. Daniel Bushman of the Montana State university is spending the spring vacation' with relatives in Wolf Point. Albert Eliason 'of the north •country attended to business mat ters in Wolf Point the first of the week. Connie Hensrud of the Univer sity at Missoula is visiting her mother in Wolf Point during spring vacation. T. S. Lovering, special agent from Miles City was in Wolf Point the last of the week investigating the theft of the Herting car. Henrietta Devaney of the Treasurers office, spent the week end in Minot visiting her sister Mabel, now Mrs. Jimmy Dolan. Robert Appelgren who is attend ing the University of Minnesota is spending the spring vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Applegren in Wolf Point. Mrs. George Barwise and Mrs. H. W. Bryan made a trip to the east end of the county this week to organize the cancer control drive to be carried on through April. Bobbie and Harry Johnston, who are attending college at Bozeman spent the ten-day spring vacation at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Johnston of east of Woll Point. Foreign Policy Study at Club The Senior Woman’s club of Wolf Point met on March 19, at the Wolf Point case with Mrs. Wold presiding. A communication from the U. S. treasury department was read, commending the women df the federation for their fine coopera tion in the national war bond sales. Roll call was “Highlights of the Big Four Conference” and re sponse showed deligent investiga tion of the topic had been made. Mrs. C. L. Arrivee gave a well prepared and instructive paper on “America’s Foreign Policy, Past and Present.’’ The round table dis cussion which followed proved that club women are awake to national problems. At the April 2 meeting talks will be given on the cancer pro gram. Roll call will be facts about cancer. MISS LAMKE SURPRISED BY FAREWELL CLASS IN HOME NURSING Miss Virginia Lampke who has been instructor at the Red Cross home nursing classes held at the court house on Friday nights, was agreeably surprised by a handker chief shower from her apprecia tive class, at their farewell meet ing last Friday evening. An ex cellent lunch was served and the ladies of the group expressed the wish that Miss Lampke would find another class for them to. enjoy as much as the course just closed. While there Mr. Har mon purchased a J 3 Piper Cub plane and had Pilot Mike Mahanna fly it back to his ranch south of town with Emma Jo as a most in terested passenger. Carl Harmon and the Davis boys took their phy sicals for private flying lessons and passed. Wm. Harmon, his daughter Edith, Freddie Park and the two Davis boys and Clarence and Paul Romo are taking flying lessons from Instructor Virgil Nordstron of Minot. They all ex pect to be soloed out this week. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Picard drove to Butte last week. The basketball boys received their sweaters on Monday. Mrs. C. A. Fournier entertained the demonstration club at an all day meeting last Friday. Mrs. Martha Hobby celebrated her birthday on March 24. All the relatives visited her during the day. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Olson of Williston visited at the Albert Nelson home Sunday evening. The Olsons will leave on the Grips holm in June to go to their old home in Jemptland, Sweden where they plan to stay for a year. The L. C. Kelly farm on which the McFareanes liyed was recently sold to Dick Farris. Clyde Sch’illinger took time out for a few days in the Trinity hos pital last week. He returned home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. George Singleton of Roundup were greeting friends in this vicinity last week. , 8 a a ^Obituary ■ b a Frank B. Good Frank Branson Good was born at Frankford, Pa., March 10, 1902. He moved with his parents to Wolf Point where he grew to manhood. He farmed in the Pleasant View community, until the year of 1936 when he moved with his family to Polson, Mont., where he lived un til the year 1944, when he moved to Helena. He passed away March 20, 1946 at the age of 44 years, 10 days. He was united in marriage to Verna Jones at Wolf Point March 17, 1923. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Rudolph Johnson, pastor of Evangelical mission in the Opp-Conrad Retz chapel Mon day at 2 p. m. Mr. Good leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Verna, two sons William E., John Philyips, two daughters, Mns. Lola M. Kitts and Ramona Lee and two brothers, Walter of Great Falls, George of Wolf Point. Marth K. Good, his mother. His father proceeded him in death Nov. 4, 1930. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Triplett of Froid visited and transacted busi ness in Wolf Point this week. Mrs. Triplett visited at the par ental Kirkpatrick home while here.
