Page Four The Ray O'Briens Honored on Their Silver Wedding The Mineral Bench community residents gathered Saturday even ing at the Mineral Bench School house to honor Mr. and Mrs. Ray O’Brien on their silver wedding an niversary. The group started off the even ing by going to the O’Brien farm home where they Charivaried the bride and groom of twenty-five years ago. Following this bit of merriment, the entire group went to the school where a whist party occupied the remainder of the ev ening. Lunch was served at midnight to forty people seated at small tables decorated in blue and silver. There was a beautifully decorated wedding cake made by Mrs. Aqt Mohr cf Poplar. After the lunch, Mrs. C. S. Tange presented the couple with a purse of silver and the assemblage join ed in wishing Mr. and Mrs. O’Brien many more years of marriage hap piness. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pipal and Mrs. Tommy Vine of Circle were business callers in Wolf Point last Friday. THE HERALD-NEWS — Wolf Point, Roosevelt County, Montana Former Wolf Point Girl Bride of Seattle Man November 26 Miss Bernice M. Magnuson, daughter of Mrs. Anna Magnuson, became the bride of Mr. Heyward O. Thompson In a candlelight cere mony on November 26th at the Renton Lutheran church at Renton, Wash. The bride wore a white brocaded satin dress with train and a sweet heart neckline. A coronet of seed pearls held her full-length tulle lace-edged veil. She carried a bou quet of white chrysanthemums and white roses centered with a pale orchid. Selma Svendsen, sister* of the bride, was matron of honor and Marlon Bougie, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid. They wore match ing dusty rose taffeta dresses and carried bouquets of white chrys anthemums and yellow roses. Best man and usher were Mr. Tony Tu dor and Mr. Jerry Bougie. Mr. Alvin Svendsen, brother-in law of the bride, sang “Oh Promise Me,’’ “Because’’ and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Svendsen of Oakland, California; Mr. and Mrs. O. R. T^ang of Williston, N. Dak; also guests formerly of Wolf Point were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Miller now resid ing in Seattle. Woman's Club Party At Wolf Point Case The Senior Woman’s Club group will hold their annual Christmas party in th^ Wolf Point Case Club Room Monday evening, December 22nd. There will be the usual ex change of gifts, said gifts to be limited to inexpensive articles. The program will consist of singing and a social good time. “SKOOKY”TRACK HAS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION Mrs. Francis Folster entertained the Sunday school children at the Mission house Saturday, Dec. 13th in honor of her grandson “Skooky” Roy Track, Jr., on his sixth birth day. His classmates showered him with gifts and all enjoyed a lunch complete with shining birthday cake. The young folk played games until time to go home. CAROLLING PARTY The Junior LDR group of the First Lutheran church enjoyed a festive occasion Monday evening when their group and several friends went out singing Christmas Carols to all places where shut-ins could be found. The caroling was followed by a hot lunch served in the church parlors by the members. ALTAR SOCIETY GROUP ENTERTAINED Mrs. R. D. Knapp and Mrs. Paul Green entertained the Little Flow er group of the Altar society at the Knapp home on Thursday ev ening. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cook of Seattle and Ferris Price of Willis ton dropped in during the evening. FORMER WOLF POINT GIRL HAS DAUGHTER Mr. and Mrs. Lee Dickey of Co lumbia Falls are the parents of a baby daughter born Sunday, De cember 14th at a hospital in Helena. The young lady weighed 7 lbs. and 4 oz. Mrs. Dickey is the former Jo Tilton of Wolf Point. BABY DAUGHTER BORN Mrs. Lillian Forsness received word Monday of the arrival of a baby daughter to Mr. ai/1 Mrs. Rod ney McEntyre at Bozeipan on Mon day. December Ith. Mrs. McEntyre is the former June Rusche, daugh ter of Mrs. Forsness. Mr. and Mrs. Faye Knapp of Poc atello, Idaho visited at the R. D. Knapp home a few days last week before going on to Scobey to visit at the parental Knapp home. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Nees and family, Mr. and Mrs. Pickthorn and family, Ernest Fachner and Ed Mack were dinner guests at the Addie Carpenter home Sunday. Mrs. Arlie Foor and Mrs. Roy Hansen made a business trip to I Great Falls the first of the week. PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN’S GUILD HOLDS CHRISTMAS PARTY TUESDAY A large group of members and friends of the Presbyterian Wo men’s Guild held their annual Christmas Party Tuesday evening in the church parlors. Mrs. E. F. Slaght, president of the guild gave a message of welcome to the en tire group followed by the Candle light service under the direction of Mrs. Cliff Rodger. Lunch was served by the hostes ses Mrs. Carl Deck, Mrs. Winfield Montgomery,, Mrs. Dick Strachan* and Mrs. Jessie Boissens. Each member brought a gift which was presented to Mrs. Cropp for use in the Indian Mission boxes. To Hold Christmas Party, A. J. Thomas' The Wolf Point Local Nnumber 53 of the Farmers Union will meet at the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Thomas Friday evening, De cember 2Gt hat 8 o’clock. This will be the regular December meeting followed by the annual Christmas party with gift exchange. The Ju nior Reserve Award pins have ar rived and will be given to those who have earned them, at this meeting. ANGELA DOUGHERTY ON VACATION VISIT Angela Dougerty, R. N. arrived in Glasgow on the streamliner Sun day where she was met by her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Dougherty and her brother D. J. Dougherty and family. They all visited at the Leo Dougherty home, before re turning to Wolf Point. Miss Dougherty is on a three w^eks vacation from her duties as anesthesist at the Mayo Clinic at Rochester. MRS FRED MARQUARDT HONORED AT STORK SHOWER Mrs. Fred Marquardt was hon ored at a stork shower held last Wednesday, a week, at the Grayson home. Hostesses to the large crowd were Mrs. Ellis Thorsen, Mrs. W. A. Feick, Mrs. J. C. McLachlan, and Mrs. Einar Traeholt and of course, Mrs. George Grayson. Decorations and luncheon favors were appro priate to the occasion and Mrs. Marquardt received a wealth of gifts from her friends. STORK SHOWER FOR MRS. ELDRIDGE FRIDAY Mrs. Park Eldridge was compli mented at a stork shower held Fri day evening, December sth at the home of Mrs. Glen Brown. Assist ant hostesses were Mrs. Charles Rathert and Mrs. Werner Schreiber. HONORED AT SHOWER Mrs. Arne Solheim and Mrs. Hen ry Reddekopp were hostesses at a pink and blue shower held last Friday evening at the George Grayson home complimenting Mrs. Morris Nygaard. She received many gifts from her friends and the hostesses served lunch to the group of twenty-five guests. COFFEE PARTIES Mrs. Al Huber was hostess at a coffee party for a group of friends and neighbors Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. N. O. Winnes entertained at a coffee party Monday after noon. Sewing an^ visiting and the lunch filled a pleasant afternoon in both cases. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cook, former Wolf Point residents visited old friends in this city and took care of business matters in this section. The Cooks now make their home in Seattle, Wash. Leo Dougherty of Glasgow trans acted business and visited relatives in Wolf Point Monday of this week. Always The FAD For Gifts Men Appreciate St. Catherine Group Will Sponsor Basket Social and Dance St. Catherine's gronp of the Al tar Society is sponsoring an old fashioned basket social and dance on December 26th at the Parish Hall. Music for the dance will be furnished by the Musicaires and all the ladies are asked to bring a box or basket lunch for two. The younger generation haven’t had the opportunity to know what real pleasure can come from a “Basket Social’’ say the oldsters and this is an excellent chance to get acquainted with this party plan of other days. SOUTHSIDE BROWNIES HAVE CHEERY CHRISTMAS - PARTY AT BURNISONS Mrs. Elmer Bostow and Mrs. Wil mar Burniscn leaders of the South side Brownie Scouts, entertained the troop on Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Burnison. Entertainment consisted of sing ing of Qhristmas Carols, games and contests in keeping with the holi day season, also several Christmas stories were told. The Holiday motif was carried out in decorations, prizes and fa vors. Tiny reindeer and fir bran ches graced the mantle-piece and candles were lighted about the’ room. The afternoon closed with the hostesses serving “brownies,’’ Christmas cookies, and cocoa. Twelve girls were present with two visitors. BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR LUCILLE CLOUD Miss Katherine Haas entertained a group of riends at the L. F. Bruggeman home last Wednesday evening in honor of the birthday of Mrs. Lucille Cloud. The guest of honor was presented with a gift fro mthe group and the hostesses served refreshments. GARY SETHRE CLEBRATES HIS FIFTH BIRTHDAY Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nygaard, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Nygaard and Burle Nygaard spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Sethre and family where a birthday dinner was held for five year old Gary Sethre. HAVE BABY BOY Friends in Wolf Point received announcements the past week of the arrival of a baby boy on De cember 9th to Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Husband at Lewistown. The 7-lb. 11-oz. son has been named Timothy James.
