Mr. and Mrs. Henry Solberg and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ostby of Elbow Lake, Minn., returned on Friday from an auto trip through both parks and the Solbergs visited in Minnesota on their way home. Mrs. Mable Gorder returned fropi a two months visit with her daugh ter in California and other relatives on the coast. Mrs. Jack Jackson of Bozeman has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Florence Dale and sister Helen and returned home Tuesday. Jack Patch, Frank Cusker and Miss Marion Patch were week end visitors at the rodeo in Miles City last week. Misses June and Genevieve Burg le left last week for liewistown where they will take up nursing in the hospital there. Verner Nelson of north of Brock ton left last week with his daughter and family, the Art Wellington’s, for their home in Spokane, for a visit. ** Rev. and Mrs. E. O. Pearson and little daughter returned on Wednes day from a trip to Chicago where they visited with Rev. Pearson’s family. A few friends of Mrs. Annie Hel mer’s surprised her on her birthday on Monday by dropping in for cake and cofee and leaving her a few pretty gifts. Friday night will be the first meeting of the Order of the Eastern Star for their fall session and all members are requested to be pres ent. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Forrest spent Wednesday at the Sidney fair. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Zimmerman left Tuesday on a business trip to Great Falls. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Smith left Tuesday for Helena where they will transact business. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Voorhees and family took in the Sidney fair on Tuesday. Jimmie Helmer returned last week from spending the summer with relatives on the Big Muddy. Miss Dorothy Drovdahl, former home ec. teacher in our high school, was a guest at the Harry Skinner home last Thursday. She was on' her way to Missoula, where she will teach in the Missoula colinty high school. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Neal of Kalis pell are visiting in town this week. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Witschem and Mr. and Mrs. Clem Gohman of St. Cloud, Minn., visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Goedert. Mr. Witschem is a nephew and Mrs. Gohman a niece of Mrs. Goedert’s. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clark are spending a few days on the coast. C. J. Samuelson and daughters of Brockton shopped in town Tuesday. Mrs. Christ Hauer and Mrs. Oscar Evenson visited in Minot last week. Mrs. Bernice Hansen and family spent Tuesday at the fair in Sidney. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Coil returned Tuesday from their honeymoon trip to Glacier park and Kalispell. Mr. and Mrs. Ford Monroe and their son Bud left for a trip to Port land and will take in both parks. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Iverson and Mrs. Eleanor Angell spent Wednes day at the Sidney fair. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tyler of Portland, Oregon, visited a few days at the Art Corbin home. Mmes. Oscar Lawson; Merle Nel son; Adolph Kaul; Harry Flem ming and Fred Reynolds spent last Friday with friends in Williston. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nelson and family and his mother, Mrs. Frank Nelson of the southside left Tuesday to go through the Yellowstone park. Mlsb Peggy Lawson arrived in Poplar on Sunday from spending the summer in the Yellowstone park where she was employed. The T. W. Lawson family left on Thursday for their home in kill ings; they have spent the summer here looking after their crops. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sage re turned to their new home in Great Falls the last of this week. They have been here for the harvesting of their wheat. Littli- Bobbie Moilancn celebrated his third birthday on August 28 with two birthday cakes, one at his home in the l’oplar hospital and the other at the Earl Bawden’s, his aunt and. uncle. He received many nice gifts. Services for Harry Hollow Held Tuesday Harry Hollow died at his home at Fort Kipp after a brief illness. He was born March 17, 1883, attend ed the Poplar Indian boarding school and lived the major part of his life in the Fort Kipp community. In 1909 he was united In marriage to Nannie Smith who preceded him in death on October'3. 1935. On January 2, 1946 he was united in marriage to Isabelle Savior. At the age of 66 he passed away early Sunday morning. He leaves to mourn him his wife Isabelle, two sons and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hollow and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hollow, and his mar ried daughter Mrs. Calvin Yellow robe and Miss Harriet Hollow and three granddaughters and one grandson. Funeral services were held in the Fort Kipp Presbyterian church with Rev. Harry Jones officiating with Rev. Cropp and Rev. Phillips assist ing. Interment was in the Fort Kipp cemetery. ARCHDALE NAMED DELEGATE TO INDIAN CONVENTION James Archdale has accepted the appointment as delegate to the Rap id City convention of Sept. 21 to 34 of the National Congress of American Indians. The local chap ter of the Montana Indians desires a good representation, and others will be appointed later. Questions of national interest will be discussed and policy of government will be considered. A representation of 500 delegates from all over the United States is anticipated, men of Indian blood of national reputa tion will be speakers. HOME DESTROYED The home of Mr. and Mrs. Nello Blair north of Poplar burned to the ground on Tuesday morning while Nello was at McAnnally’s helping with the combining and Mrs. Blair was away from the home so that nothing was saved but the clothes they were wearing. The cause is unknown at present. REV. WIFE, ATTEND CONFERENCE Rev. and Mrs. E. W. Brown of the Assembly of God. church left Monday to attend the general coun cil of the church at the civic audi torium in Seattle, Wash., Sept. 3 to 8. The bus from the Indian school at Pierre, S. Dak., was in town getting the children from this community who are to attend school there this year. Rev. and Mrs. Harry Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew White, Mrs. Maude Good Boy and many others from here and Wolf Point who at tended the Presbyterian Indian an nual mission meeting at Ft. Yates, N. Dak., have all returned home. Miss Nettle Ove of Minnesota who has been visiting her sister Mrs. George Conlin In Williston, spent Sunday in Poplar and she and Mrs. Oscar Lawson left by train Monday morning for Minnesota. Mrs. Law son will visit relatives and friends in Minnesota and Wisconsin before returning home. Mrs. Albert Grimm returned last week from Leavenworth, Kansas, where she went'to attend profession ceremonies at St. Mary’s and visit her daughters who were leaving for their missions in Colorado. Sister Mary Albert will teach at leadville the coming year and Sister Mary Emeline will teach in Denver. Ben purshia and Officer Graham went to Deer Lodge last week on business. Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Hughes of Froid visited last week with Mrs. Hughes’ sister, Mrs. Annie Helmer. Mr. and Mrs. James Macdonald spent Wednesday at the Sidney fair.
