Page Two Wolf Point Local and Social Items Pre Nuptial Shower \ Given Miss Gilligan Margaret Gilligan, bride-elect of Hubert Beckers of Kialispell, was complimented at a pre-nuptial shower on Thursday afternoon at the Brockton School Home Ec. Room. About thirty-five guests were present: among those from out-of town included Mrs. James McNeil and Mrs. Lorrie Reuter, both of Froid, Mrs. George Lotz of Poplar‘s Mrs. Barney Keanne of Detroit. Michigan, Mrs. William Suggett of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dorothy and Helen Gilligan of Seattle. Mrs. A 1 Zoanni of Sioux Pass, and Mrs. Joe Schmitz and Mrs. Clara Smith ■of the southside community. Guests were presented with a small bach elor button corsage by the hostesses Mrs. Geraldine Shanks and Mrs. ‘Lila Elgie. childhood friends of the Bride-to-be. An amusing time wan had when the guests wrote 4-line poems. The first word of each line had to be gin with the initials of the pros pective pewlvweds. The bride-elect was then asked to read all the poems, the prize for the best going to Mrs. Clara Smith. Miss Gilligan received a large array of beautiful and useful gifts. She was assisted by Mrs. Everett Shanks and Mrs. Edward Smith. After the gifts were viewed bv all. a pot-luck lunch was served. Miss Gilligan and Mr. Beckers will be married Monday at 9:00 A.M. August 13th, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at Poplar. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mrs. Barbara Gilligan of Brock ton. Beckers who is employed with the Soil Conservation Service at Hot Springs, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Beckers of Kalispell. Mr. and Mrs. Paul * Schillings of Vida visited with Mrs. Emma Anderson Sunday evening. KAIiONAL ID ITOft IA L |as|ocli^t^on Baby Shower Honors Mrs. Joe Appelhans Mrs. Joe Appelhans was guest of honor at a surprise pink and blue shower Saturday afternoon at the Jim Elgie home. The afternoon was spent socially, after which the com plimented guest was presented with a beautfully-decorated bassinet fill ed with baby gifts. A dessert lunch prepared by the co-hostesses Mrs. Bert Johnson and Ms. Reuben Johnson was seved to the guests present. In addition to the honoree and the hostesses, the guests included Mesdames Robert Vaught, Julius Johnson. George Nickoloff, William Suggett, Harold Johnson, Sam Nygard, Ed ward Smith, Joe A. Johnson, and Lloyd L. Johnson. Mrs. Appelhans’ i husband is a depot operator at ' the Brockton Great Northern Depot The family which includes a daughter Christ ine, 2. came here from Dodson in January 1951. Marlene Johnson Has 4th Birthday Party Little Marlene Johnson, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold John son. had the help of a small group of young friends Thursday after noon to play games and otherwise celebrate the advent of her fourth birthday at her home. Opening the nice gifts and toys occupied some of the time before "Mother Clara" called them to enjoy the birth day cake and ice cream after Mar lene had extinguished the four candles. The little guests present included Sherry Lynn Ruflatto. Smith of Hazen, North Dakota Glenn Johnson, Betty and Lloyd Michael and Donna Elgie, Woodrow Johnson, Phylis and Marlene John son. Glenn Johnson Has 6th Birthday Party The sixth birthday of Glenn Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Johnson, was celebrated Sunday afternoon at his home with a small group of neighbor friends helping him celebrate. After the children played games and gifts opened. Mrs. Johnson served the traditional birthday cake and ice cream to those present. Among those assis ing Master Johnson enjoy his sixth birthday were his grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Johnson, Mrs. Henry Smith and children Betty and Loyd of Hazen, N. Dak., Mickey and Donna Elgie, Phylis and Mar lene Johnson, Barbara Thomas, and the honored guest. Mr. and Mrs. William Kurtz left Tuesday for Great Falls where they will attend the Montana State Fair and visited Mrs Kurtz’s parents and a sister who is also visiting. Miss Katherine Haas, who is em ployed as dental assistant to Dr. Feda, left Saturday for Lidgerwood, North Dakota where she will visit her family. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hovey and children and Mrs. James Terry. Sr. left for Redding, California Tues day. They plan to spend about three weeks there. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Clayton Jr. and family left Saturday morning for Whitefish, Montana and Bampf and Lake Louise, Canada where they plan to spend a ten-day va cation. Mrs. Oline Houg and daughter. Pauline, left for Minneapolis Sat urday where they will visit rela tives. They stopped enronte at the Harold Isachsen home at Williston for a short visit. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Westfall and two daughters of Bend, Oregon arrived at the Bruce Randall home last Wednesday for a visit. Mrs. Westfall is Mr. Randall's sister. They left for home Tuesday. The Don Johnson family returned Sunday evening from a week's trip to Regina, Canada where they at tended the Provincial Exhabition. On their return trip Sunday they attended the golf tournament at Williston. Mr and Mrsy Burl Ault have re turned home following a vacation trip to Detroit, Michigan, and have as their guest, Barbara Rae Horn, a niece, of Detroit. Barbara’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Horn, will also visit the Ault’s and she will return with them. Mr. and Mrs. Lars Stensland re turned last Wednesday from a week’s vacation at Saskatoon, Can ada where they visited relatives and friends and attended the Prov incial Exhabition at Saskatoon. Johnson on the occasion of her birthday Sunday afternoon, August sth, The ladies enjoyed a pleasant visit. A delicious lunch was served. Widows’ Club Honors Member At Birthday Party The Widows' Club entertained for Mrs. Maude Poulson on the oc casion of her birthday at the Mar tin Mitchell home last Thursday afternoon.
