Page Six Wolf Point Local and Social News Representatives Of City Youth Groups Speak Before Club Five guest speakers, representa tives of various Wolf Point youth groups, addressed the regular meet ing of the Wolf Point Women’s Civic club Monday evening at the home of Mrs. J. T. Brownlee. The speakers outlined the aims and purposes of each group they represented and pointed out what the community could do to further interest in these youth organizat ions. Miss Gerane Hovee, home ec onomics teacher and Future Home makers of America advisor; Mrs. W. E. Burnison, Girl Scouts; Roger Smith. Boy Scouts; Mrs. Werner Schreiber, Korner Kulb; and Hus ton Smith, 4-H clubs, were the speakers. In citing community aid for FHA. Miss Hovev stated moral support and encouragement at home would aid the Future Homemaker along the right path. Mrs. Burnison listed the need for meeting places, and leadership for Girl Scout tropps. Boy Scouts need community pro motion, leadership and moral sup port, stated Roger. Smith. The Korner Klub. sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Association, needs money for square dancing, re gular chaperonies. more adult in terest and praise. Leaders, moral support and more home interest are needed to pro mote 4-H club work, according to Huston Smith. President Mrs. Harvey Bryan welcomed Mrs. L. R. Hovey and Pauline Draper into the club, and reviewed the report of the district convention held in Havre. • Mrs. J. T. Brownlee, ticket sales chairman, reported on the com munity concert sales now under way. Due to bad weather, the sales will continue this week. Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Nelson of Vida. They will be married October 7 at a public wedding at the First Lutheran church in Wolf Point. The bride elect is a senior in the Wolf Point schools. Mr. Nelson a veteran of World War 2, farms in the Vida community.—Love joy Studio Photo call Mrs. Brownlee. Grow and Mrs. Lynn Nees, asistant hostesses. The program will be the initiation of new members with Mrs. Norven Langager and Mrs. Kermit Tjon in charge. Assistant hostess with Mrs. Brownlee at the last meeting was Catherine Haas. Making Progress In Recovery from Polio John Steven Bushman, three years old son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Bushman, who is in the hospital in Great Falls, recovering from an attack of polio is reported as being improved considerably. Mrs. Amanda Boston of Columbus, grand associate matron, assisted in ihe visitation. Arriving Friday afternoon. Mrs. Halvorson was honored by the Past Matrons club at dinner at the Wolf Point case where she was presented with a gift. Saturday at 1:30 o'clock, also at the Wolf Point case, an officers' luncheon was held. Guests at the luncheon besides Mrs. Halvorson, were Amanda Boston, and Ethel Terpe. grand committee woman. A six o'clock dinner was served by Associate Patron Keith Davis. Mrs. Davis. Hairy Dasinger, Worthy Patron and Mrs. Dasinger. worthy matron, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dasinger. Saturday evening at a special meeting the work was conducted for the Worthy Matron’s inspection. Candidates James Larson, Kenneth Voss, Alyce Smith and Anna Van Pelt received the degrees of the order. Visitors from six chapters were in attendance frowr Scooey, Malta. Fairview, Richey. Poplar and Cul bertson. Following the meeting, lunch and a soc|al hour enjoyed. Main table decorations centered around a four tier cake decorated in five colors. Silver bells and candles flanked the cake. Nut cups were silver, white and red with tiny silver wedding rings tied on to depict Mrs. , Halvorson’s silver wedding anniversary which is this year. Her colors are red. white and silver. Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Dasinger took Mrs. Halvorson to Circle to the home of Florence Olson, worthy matron at Circle, in preparation for their meeting Mon day evening. Edgar Zugg, Miss Jean Langager, Wed At Scobey In the First Lutheran Church of Scobey, Saturday, September 29, Jean Langager daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Langager, and Edgar Zugg of Redstone, were united in marriage at 8 o’clock in the even ing with the Rev. Benson officiat ing. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white chiffon with a net lace pepplen. Her finger tip viel fell from a tierra trimmed in seed pearls. She wore white chiffon elbow length gloves and carried a colonial bou quet of red roses and white carna tions. Shirley Hanson also of Scobey was the bridesmaid she wore a rose colored net gown. Bud Hanson was the best man. Ushers were Norvin and Hartvig Langager, brothers of the bride. The mother of the bride wore a royal blue crepe dress with black accessories. She had a pink and white carnation corsage. Reba and Greta Knudsvig. of Poplar sang, “The Lord’s Prayer’’ and “I Love You Truly.’’ They were accompanied by Mrs. Hum bert who also played the wedding march. A family reception was held at the Langager home. Mrs. H. Langa ger cut the three tier wedding cake. Mrs. John Lindsay and Mrs. T Eiickstein poured. For her going away costume the bride wore a deep purple suit with carmel accessories They plan to make their home in Scobey. California Friend Is Visitor at Home Of James DeWane Mrs. John P. Tierney of Berk ley, California was a guest at the James DeWane home last week. Mrs. Tierney and Mrs. DeWane are school time friends during their childhoods in lowa and had not seen each other for many years. Mrs. Tierney started her vacation trip in June and traveled first to her home state of lowa, then to Boston, New York. Philidelphia. Washington, D. C„ Chicago and Minneapolis. Enroute home she will travel by way of Seattle and other coastal cities. Mr. and Mrs. DeWane accom panied her to Baker Saturday, where Mrs. Teirney will visit a cousin. The DeWanes continued on from Baker to Reeder, North Dak ota. where they were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Krebs bach, a sister of Mrs. DeWane Mrs Teirney will return to Wolf Point before leaving for Seattle. F. H. A. District Convention Held At Medicine Lake The 1951 Future Homemakers of America convention was held September 29, at Medicine Lake. Miss Gerane Hovee, advisor of the local F. H. A. Chapter accompanied seventeen girls to the convention. Registration began at 9 a.m., with the opening session starting at 10:30. Lunch was served at noon by the Medicine Lake Chapter. Guest speakers of the convention were Miss Julia Menefee. State F. H. A. advisor, and Mr Jorgensen, Superintendent of Medicine Lake A business meeting was held in the afternoon, followed by enter tainment which consisted of short program and skits given by repre sentatives from each town present. Nine chapters attended the con vention. Next year’s convention will be held at Plentywood. Miss Delores Mair Honored Guest At Pre-Nuptial Shower A wedding shower given in honor of Delores Mair was given at the home of Gloria Neubauer. With Gloria and Sharon Sugden as host esses. Thirty friends attended the shower Monday evening She re ceived many useful gifts. Lunch was served and games were played. Mrs. O. Steen left Friday for Kenastota, South Dakota. Mr. and Mrs. Ered Marquardt and family are leaving next week for Phoenix, Arizona. Mrs. John Gebhardt, and Mrs. Bob Philips of Scebey visited Mrs. C. D. Taylor Monday. Carol Peterson left Sunday morn ng for Morris. Minnesota where she is enrolling in school there. Mr. and Mis. Percy Peterson went to Havre, Tues*lay to attend a funeral of one of Mr. Peterson relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Wm Welzenbach and family returned home Sunday from a vacation in Glacier Park Billings. Mrs. Russell Barnes went to Minot. North Dakota this past week end where she attended her Uncles’ funeral. The V. F. W. Auxiliary Sewing Club will meeet at the hospital October 16 at 2. All members please try to be present. Elk's Ladies night was held Tues day evening, with about 65 ladies present. Canasta and bridge was played. Lunch was served. Mrs. Herman Shumway and chil dren. and Mrs. J. Fread left Mon day f? r . California. Mrs. Shumway will join her husband there. Gale Peterson, Leslie Wehleim, and Bill Welzenbach left September 22 for Morris, where they enroll ed in the Agricultural school there. Mr. and Mrs. Lars Stensland re turned home from North Dakota where they have been visiting his mother. She recently celebrated her 81st birthday. Alfred a Sigg and Foriau Drabbs of Hinsdale, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wolff and son. of Lindsay were dinner-guest of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Neutgens, Sunday. Mrs. H. Skilingberg and Mrs. Anderson from Homestead. Mont, visited Mrs. Fred Ahrens last week. They attended the American Auxi liary Convention in Wolf Point. Loy Rae Montgomery had a farewell party for Judy Marquardt Monday evening at her home. She received many nice hankies from her friends. A lunch was served. Mrs F. J. Neutgens and Dick spent last weekend visiting at the homes of her daughter. Mrs. E. Fitz Simmons and family and her sisters Mrs. Rice and Mrs. Agnes Cool all of Glasgow. 2nd Lt. Earl McCanaha and wife, and daughter stopped at the C. Kirkpatrick home Sunday while enroute to Fort Monmouth. New Jersey. Lt. McCanaha is a nep hew of Mr. Kirkpatrick’s. Sixteen friends of Marilyn Ha mill helped her celebrate her 10th birthday Friday. Marilyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hamill. Lunch was served and the group enjoyed a show. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Krauth and Mrs. Charles Hauge drove to Great Falls Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Krauth returned Wednesday. Enroute home they stopped at Shelby. Mrs. Hauge will return home late this week. Mrs. Mayme Schillinger enter tained at a coffe party held Wed nesday evening. Present were Mrs. James DeWane, Mrs. John Tier ney. Mrs. Frank Eggebrecht and Mrs. William Richert and sons. Guests of honor at a birthday supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rodell Mahlum, were Mark and Mary, twin children of Jim Lar son’s and Eldora Mahlum. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Larson. Judy Marquardt celebrated her 11th birthday Sunday, September 30. She had her friends in for a 1 o’clock luncheon and theatre party afterwards. Miss Marquardt received many lovely gifts from her friends. The party was at her home. Miss Dorrayne Hill was guest of honor at a shower Sunday given for her at the home of Hans Ander son. Hostesses were Mrs. Hanne Oas and Mrs Boots Erickson. A delicious lunch was served and Miss Hill received many lovely gifts. Miss Hill is the daughter of Mr. an.l Mrs. Carl Hill, of Wolf Point. Hostesses for a oirthday party for, Mrs. George Meister and Mrs. Winfield Montgomery, were Mrs. Walter Burt. Mrs. Leonard Noble, and Mrs. Oliver Montgomery. The party was Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Waller of Scobey and Mr. and Mrs. Ziege of Fort Peck also attended the visitation. Dick Neutgens celebrated his 9th birthday on Monday October Ist. Twelves boys gathered at the Neutgens home after school. Games were played, after which a lunch was served to the group, which included a big birthday cake which centered the table. Halloween place cards, nut cups, and favors decorated the table. Dick received many useful and lovely gifts from his classmates. GIRL SCOUT CORNER Brownie Scout Troop No. 1, meets each Tuesday at 3:30. at the home of Mrs. Steve Janich, The troop consists of 3rd grade girls.
