Page Six TEENAGE GROUP SHOWS INTEREST IN POLIO TESTS . >■ Fifty-eight million Americans under the age of 20 await tho answer to science’s $64,000,000 question. Tint’s the amount of money the March of Dimes must raise nevt month to fight nolio in 1055 and those millions of youne people constitute the group most susceptible to its ravages. Dates for the 1955 March of Dirties have bden set from Jan ary 3 to 31, inclusive, as reported by John B. Kemp, Roosevelt county chairman. Center of interest perhaps is the ancient red brick building on the campus of the University of Michigan. Ann Arbor. Here Dr. Thomas Francis Jr. and his staff of more than 120 investigators are studying results of the 1954 field trial of a new polio vaccine. It is Dr. Francis who will answer the $84,000,000 question of whether the vaccine works. If the Francis Report, to be issued in the spring, declares that the vaccine developed by Dr. Jonas E. Salk at the University of Pittsburgh did protect those who received it from polio paralysis, it will be licensed and made avail able to protect young America from the disease. Data on 1.830,000 Children Mathematically minded young moderns, though accustomed to the astronomical figures of the Atom ic Age, nevertheless cannot fail to be imoressed by the scope and complexity of the work going on at the Poliomyelitis Vaccine Eval uation Center.
