Last Saturday night William Ball,
who worked here last December, as
saulted the editor of the Elko Inde
pendent and also threatened his life.
On the latter charge he was placed
under $51)0 bonds to keep the peace
and is to be tried on the other charge
Monday. Hall was here (luring the
lot-jumping episode, and when the
building was moved off tho lot claim
ed by Gayhart he was an agitator in
favor of the lot jumper. The Bonan
za commented upon his ravings and
since then he has told parties that he
was going to kill the editor of this
paper on sight. We are still doing
business at the old stand. Subscrip
tion price, $5 per year.
Power and Light.
It is stated on good authority that
ex-Governor Jewitt Adams has asso
ciated himself with a wealthy com
pany just organized to build an elec
tric power and light plant on Twin
river about sixty miles north of Tono
pah to supply this place with power
add light. It is to be hoped that the
plant will be built.

Pneumonia in Austin.
The dread disease, pneumonia, is
prevalent in Austin in a severe form.
Many of the residents of that camp
are very low with the sickness, two
having already died.
A man that does his advertising on
a blackboard in front of his place of
business can be put down as a dealer
in "shoddy" goods. He is too cheap
to have good goods.
There are not enough teams now
on the road between here and the
railroad to handle the ore that the
Company is desirous of sending to
the smelters.
George Ladd of Los Angeles in
tends putting on a stage line between
Tonnpuh and Sodaville.
Denny Shine, a well-known citizen
of Sonora, died there last week.
