James Walker, a blacksmith was
drowned in the Riverside mill ditch
at Reno Friday night.
A big wild horse rodeo is in pro
gress on Reese river, nearly all the
ranchers taking part therein.
The Reno wheelmen have been chal
lenged to relay races by the Sacra
mento and Garden City teams.
It isn't necessary for a man to be
an acrobat to tumble to the fact
that advertising pays in this paper.
Two faro-banks, a roulette wheel
and several poker games are num
bered afnong Ely's sporting attract
ions. Roadmaster J. E. MeCormack was
seriously injured in a head-on collision
at tunnel 13, west of Truckee yester
day. Joseph Pierce, who returned to
Grass Valley from Berlin, Nye county,
recently, brought with him a case of
smallpox.
