At the regular meeting of the Roard of County Commissioners, held in Belmont on Octoher tith, the following business wag transacted : Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Quarterly joint report of Auditor aud Treas urer was read. A number of bills against the county were presented, read and acted upon, and appear elsewhere in this issue. A communication was then read from the Commissioners of Esmeralda county requesting that Nye county beur a portion of the expense ol re-surveying the county line. The clerk was instructed to notify the Esmeralda Commissioners that Nye county was well satisfied with the old survey as it is and has been for the past twenty-five years. The resignation of Clay Peters as Justice of the Peace of Tonopah was read and accepted, and J. li. Lind say was appointed to till the vacancy. Hond of T. J. Jones, the duly a pointed Justice of the Peace of Ber lin was arccepted. The resignation of W. Brougher as Recorder and Auditor was ac cepted and Thomas Warburtou was duly appointed to fill the vacancy. The special school tax for tlie purpose of enlarging the Tonnpah school house was considered, and on motion a tax of lj per cent was ordered levied upon earh $100 of taxable property in said district, including bullion tax. On motion the Sheriff was author ized to furnish twenty cords of wood to the court house. An election precinct was ordered established at Pactolus, with J. R. Davis as registry agent. The Commissioners' Proclamation of Election and the OHicial County Ticket will be found elsewhere. The Board then adjourned until October lHUi, at which time action will be takmi in the matter of some laidover bills and further business transacted. Mineral Resources. In speaking Of the mining resour ces of Nye county, the Searchlight Miner says: Until a few years ago it was thought the mountain ranges along the Colorado river possessed no mineral wealth of commercial value, supposing to lie in volcanic formation, commonly known as mal pais (bad land), but later investiga tion reveals the surprising fact that there are many valuable mineral districts and basins now producing bullion, development considered, far in excess of many of the older camps in the west. The Searchlight district is one of phenomenal importance to this state in point of mineral wealth. Scarcely over three years old, it has six pro ducing mines with machinery on the ground, and many partially devel oped projects which are attracting the attention of capital. It is a perfect mineral basin, with all the symptoms of permanency. Search light is a rich mineral country, and it is a wonder indeed that no more concern has been given it by the press of the state. J. F. Uhlborn says he will com mence the erection of a 100-ton smelter at the Miller copper mine in Mason valley about January 1st.
