Outfitting Prospectors a Specialty. SODAVILLE AND TONOPAH Ilanapiili. . The Hunupuh Mining and Smelting company has been organized in Salt Lake with a stated capital of f 1,000, -000, divided into shares of the par value of 1 each. The company, of which Samuel New-house is desig nated as president, has acipiired the Hanapah group of silver-gold bear ing claims in the. new camp of that name near Tonopah. The remaining officers and directors are Alfred A. Bet ties, vice-president and treas urer; SV. E. ltlock, secretary; F. H. Work and M. E. Graham. The prop erty was commended to Mr. New house some three or four months ago, and with his accustomed promptness he at once ordered an examination of the property and a campaign of de velopment, the formation of the com pany being the outcome. In a series of cuts and prospect holes the ledge has been opened along the outcrop for a distance of over 2,000 feet. In addition, a shaft has been started and is now down thirty feet in the finest kind of ore ore that assays up to 400 ouncss in silver, with splen did values in gold as well. Unlike Tonopah, there is plenty of water and timber on the ground, and the development of the property will, therefore, bo an easy matter as com pared with the operation of mines in the older camp. Prom all accounts, Mr. Newhouse says, the property bids fair to rival the best mines of Tonopah, and with the-better physi eal advantages surrounding it, he has eonlidcnce that the ground wil prove a big winner. From the inter est now being shown in that region it also appears that the near future will see a branch road constructed from Eureka into the diggings, and in that event Hanapah will not be long without a railroad connection with the outside world. It is under stood that the new company will equip the property with adequate hoisting machinery at once, and be fore spring rolls around again the new mines should be added to the list of shippers.
