WEDDED BUM. Bsa rrMtlM* Adopt* BEIqwetia of the EMM Boat In writing np the society events of the week in San Francisoo, Mad ame La Bavarde, the Bulletin’s breezy society reporter, notes the adoption of a fad in that city which for several years has been considered the correct thing in high society circles in the East. She says: "I have always said that society in San Franoisco is the most correct and virtuous of all the large citios in America. This is especially true of New York, where now it is very bail style to invite husband and wife to the same affair together. Noth ing could be worse, exoept seat ing them side by side at din ner. Many of the smart young maidens have a cavalier who looks platonioally in love with the lady, quite after the English fashion, and no one is shocked. The New York girls used to say when cynical, “We marry to be chaper ones,” but now they say, “We mar ry to be belles.” At a recent assem bly the married women got a “cor ner” on all the young men, and the poor girls were wall flowers. They commanded attention, for do they not entertain, and the pretty buds could only grit their teeth and say, “Never mind, when we are 39 they will be 60.” STATE NEWS ITEMS.
