Phone 5-6-1 1 O, Comforter Divine of human sorrow, Grant that Thy followers here below A little of Thy healing grace may borrow, To check War's woe. Grant that these hands may never falter In caring for the stricken and the sore; Grant us the faith to serve as at an altar And count our lives as nothing in the score. Grant us the faith and the clear-seeing vision To see beyond the horror and the strife; The courage, the endurance, the submission, The spirit that deems honor more than life. O, Comforter Divine of human sorrow, God, who alone can cause the War to cease, Grant us the strength to face the coming morrow, Or grant us peace. 00 "SPILLING THE BEANS" . She says she is bound to no party, but only to the people. A candidate who cannot be true to a party cannot be true to the people. Why did Miss Martin refuse to join an existing partv- Because she would be definitely bound to its principles and would be iinder party discipline. Because she would have been compelled to encounter rivalry for the nomination at the party primaries, in either the Republican, the Socialist or the Democratic parties. Because, had she organized a woman's party, she would have encountered rivalry from other women entitled to recognition. Miss Martin is running as the candidate of the Martin party. She is the sole member. She made her own platform. She is her own candidate. Miss Martin has defied public sentiment in Nevada by political I. W. W. methods in heckling the president. What guarantee is there that she will not defy public orders if she should be elected. Carson Valley Bank Carson City Nevada X Capital, hilly paid . OFFICERS Otj. Wingfield, Pre. F. The real reason the Ilun is going to evacuate Belgium is be cause he sees he cannot hold it much longer. The real reason the Ilun reorganized his cabinet is because no honest nation in all the world would consrnt to have dealings with the men of treachery whom he had selected to manage affairs. The real reason the Ilun is going to get out of France is because France has been made too hot for hint. The real reason the Ilun is going to grant additional liberty to his own people is because they have been made aware of the fact that he is not invincible and because the Allied nations have said he must do so. The real reason the Hun has "offered" the Allies peace is be cause he wants a chance to rest and recuperate his shattered force. The time for the Allies to work hardest for peace is right now when the Hun is winded and on the run. Our boys over there will give him no rest. But to do their part they must have the things which money buys. Our part is to send the Fourth Liberty Loan the Victory Loan over the top with a rush. 4444 A WILLIAM A. Up to the present time all ship-building records were held by the British. They had a highly developed industry that had been in full operation for generations ; most important of all, they had the yards and large numbers of skilled workers' to assure them first place. After April 6, 1917, it was necessary that the United States, under extreme pressure, should create the yards, recruit and train the workment and turn out the materials before it could hope to in crease in any considerable measure the American rate of production and the annual output That is what has been actually done in spite of persistent efforts to minimize the success of our hurried war methods. It has been a marvellous achievement, reflecting honor upon American enterprise and skill, upon American ship-builders and ship-workers. CHARLES B.
