Baron was an outgoing passenger bound for Reno last evening, Mrs. Cowing is slowly improving, but no marked change will be apparent until the lungs have cleared up. Miss May Kenney expects to leave for Genoa tomorrow, where she will be engaged professionally for the next few weeks. Fiorie Raffetto has returned to this city from San Francisco, where he was called some days ago by the illness and death of his wife. t. IS. ienngton, who has been in Carson for the past ten days looking after business matters, leaves this even ing for his winter home in San Fran cisco. Rev. Harold H. Kelley left for Vir ginia City this morning to officiate at the funeral of Philip Kestell, who died on the Comstock Monday last ot in fluenza. J. S. Sinai of Adjutant General Sulli van's office was an outgoing passenger last evening, bound for Stockton. His father is about to undergo a serious operation and Private Sinai wished to be with him at that time. (jovernor Uoyle has written the ex ecutive office in this city stating that he expects to be home some time after the middle of the month. He will ar rive in Indianapolis about the 11th to attend a conference of governors that will be held there on that date. Max Stenz, Jr., who accompanied the remains of his late wife to San Fran Cisco, where they were buried, return ed to his home in this city on the train arriving this morning. He was accom panied by his sister, Miss Alma Stenz, who had been in the city for a number of weeks. Outside of some of the leading finan ciers in the community, a group of bibliophiles, lovers of art for art's sake, and a convivial cotere of good fellows there are a lot of people here who are missing a lot by not knowing John Mul- ' lin, the wild Irish rose and the salt of the earth. In one letter he stated he had done his bit in the front line trenches and came through safely; in the other he stated that he again went to the front, this time in company with Tommy O'Hara, Johnny Newman of this city. and John Burns of Virginia City. Kib linger, ill with pneumonia in Gold Hill, remains critical, he being about the same. Ernest Lamerton, who was very ill yesterday, is improved today, and Mrs. Andresen is also much better. All .oth er cases were distinctly favorable to day. At the home of Judge F. P. Langan. where six members of the family are down with the flu, all are doing nicely today and rapidly improving. Chronicle. Yesterday Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Grov er of this city received the sad word from their daughter at Elko that her husbr.-id, Otto Nelson, had died at that place following an attack of influenza. He had been sick a number of days and his death was not unexpected as he was in serious condition. PASTOR RESIGNS At a meeting of the vestrymen of St. Peter's Episcopal church of this city, held Monday night, the resignation of Rev. H. H. Kelley as pastor was re ceived and accepted. The resignation goes into effect Jan uary 1st, at which time Mr. Kelley and his family wilf depart for California, where they will make their home. The Kelleys during"their residence in Carson have made many friends and all will regret their departure. Mr. Kel ley has taken a great interest in the building Hp of the Home Guards and his activities in that connection will be missed. The remains of J. M.
