There was a bill in the Nevada legislature two years ago that proposed to regu late the traffic and eliminate some of the evils the people complained of. But those engaged in the traffic said "to COME AGAIN Carson City says there are more im portant questions to come before the session than the proposition of mov ing the state capital. None of them are quite so important for Carson City, however. DAILY HEALTH TALKS The Best Way to Treat Constipation BY S. C. BABCOCK, M. D. The medical books name many drug? that will move the bowels. The drug store shelves are loaded down with laxatives, purgatives a,nd pills. The trouble with most of them is the after-effects. Con stipated people know that pills work all right for a little while, but they soon lose their effect, and a change has to be made to something else. The constant taking of pills results in a form of bowel inactivity that is difficult tor cure. The system be comes so accustomed to laxative drugs that the organs just won t work without them, and so the pill habit becomes as bad as constipation itself. Dr. Pierce, of Buf falo, N. seems to me to have the right idea, lie says the bowels should nrst De gently moved with Pierce's Pleasant Pel lets, and in the meantime laxative foods only should be eaten, figs, prunes, olive oil, spinach, bran, vegetables and fruits are fine for constipation. Chew every bite thoroughly, eat little meat, ana De as active as Jpossible. Now, doesn't that seem sensible? Pleasant Pellets will start the bowels working right; then it is up to you to keep them right by right eating. Trv Pleasant Pellets for sick headache, soated tongue, biliousness, dizziness, tor pid liver or to break up a cold. They ire just fine! The former managements of these great industries are perfectly sat isfied for the government to continue to operate them for a period of twenty-one months or more, but balk at former Director General Mc Adoo's proposal of five years, in order to give the proposition a fair trial and test. Why? Because they know that the government in five years would be able to so reconstruct the roads as to service, comfort to travel, cheaper rates, both passenger and freight, increase the wages of their employes, and where necessary, shorten the hours of labor, that the public generally would be so well satisfied that the return to the old system of private ownership would not even be thought of. The former management of these corporations know that all this cannot be done in twenty-one months, but they do know that the govern ment in that time would have the roads in better shape as regards roll ing stock, roadbeds, equipment, etc., and on a more sound financial basis than when it took them over. Uncle Sam would not think of doing any thing different. Well these corporate interests know this and the great benefit that would accrue to them 'from the government rehabilitat ing the roads. The only safe plan to pursue is to continue them under government control for five years and then if the people desire a return to the old system they will say so through their representatives in congress. As the old saying is. and it holds good in the majority of cases today, that whatever these large public utilities want and fight for it is a safe con clusion to come to that it is not in the interests of or for the benefit of the people.
