If there Is a "crying I need' of Incorporation" In Elko, thr majority of our citizens will recogniz< it and support such a movement b> signing a petition for the calling o: an election and will vote for it whet the election is held. Those who favoi incorporation should be willing te abide by the will of the majority anr not attempt to uso a club to forci their plans. An attempt to defeat the bond issue to repair our sewer sye tem, a matter which concerns public health and safety, in order to force in corporation, would be tactics un worthy of good citizenship. We dc not believe that sxich a movement wil gain many supporters even among th? most" ardent advocates of incorpora tion for to defeat the bond issue a; the coming election would mean a de lay to the repairing of our sewer sys tem for at least a year, the const quences of which no one can foretell but which to say the least are mos threatening. THE S. P. railroad company stil" maintains its crossing at fifth street without adequate protection, despite the fact that several accidents have narrowly been averted there which en dangered life. It might be too mucl to demand that the company remove Ite freight depot which has obstruc ted this street for thirty years, but i should be compelled to put In electrl' gates. The company Is not following out the policy of safety-first in thi. instance. If there Is authority ti force adequate protection to the pul lie let It be called into operation with out further delay. PEOPLE will buy stocks in foregii concerns from smooth-tongued agent: when there is not a chance to realize on it. An opportunity is now offeree to those who have money to invest in a ligitimate home enterprise, one that promises bl^ returns. We have reference to tha raoe track and fair grounds of the Elko Development company. As there is Included the grounds hold by the company eight} lots^ 100 x 300 feet which have been listed at $300 ear h, and they are ej bargain at the price, stock in this con - cern should be eagerly sought for.
