FOB PRESIDENT, HORACE GREELEY. FOB VICE-PRESIDENT, B. ORATZ BROWN. PRESIDENTIAL ELECTORS AT LiBOE, Thomas Ewlng, Jr. August Thiem. DISTRICT ELECTOR, OWEN X. GUNNING, Official Vote of Ohio. Four years ago this State gave Gift-taker Grant 41,000 major ity. Two years ago 15,000 negro votes were added to the Radical vote, making a majority of 56,000. . The official vote at the elec tion held October 8th for Secre tary of State and Supreme Judge is as follows: SECRETARY OF STATE. Wikoff.. 265,825 Wiley ....251,870 WikolFs majority 13,955 SUPREME JUDGE. Welch...... .263,223 Green.. ,..::...:.:.:....;....252,G36 Welch's majority... 10,587 Last Fall Noyes' majority for Governor was 20,168. Wikoff has received 6,213 votes less than Noyes. It only requires a change of 6,977 votes to carry the State for Greeley and Reform next Tues day week. Let little Vinton do her part. Let us give Greeley 181 votes more than we gave Wiley 1 There is not Democrat in the . State who does not, in his heart of hearts, abominate the tyranny which Grant has practised in the South ; who does not despise him for his meanness in putting all his relatives into offices; who does not hatethe tendency lie shows towards overcoming the people by military power; and yet the Radicals hope that Borne of these very men will absent themselves from the polls on the 5th of November. The Radicals will - vote for Grant they know no better. But a Democrat, who directly or indirectly aids in Grant's re election, is deliberately sinning against light and knowledge. Ashtabula County. The following is the official vote of Ashtabula County: Wi koff, Republican, 5,421 ; Wiley, Democrat, 1,641. This is the largest vote ever cast for a Dem ocrat in Ashtabula. Let every Democrat make it his business to see that every other Democrat in his neighbor hood goes to the polls, and we will certainly carry Ohio in November. An Irontonian hooked one hundred pound cat-fish. The head of the varmint weighed twenty pounds. , Michigan Prohibition Con ventions invariably wind up with a resolution pledging the. mem herd not to vote for Grant the drunkard. ON TO VICTORY! Let each and every Democrat and Liberal in the twelve town ships of Vinton County put on his whole armor of political faith, and together march in solid phalanx upon the now broken and wavering lines of the enemy and the day is won won forever I If you all come up manfully to the work on next Tuesday week, November 5th, Ohio will be carried for Honesty and Reform J The task is neither great nor difficult. All we have to do is to go to the polls and vote our whole strength. 1 - r The Presidential Campaign! Liberal-Democratic Conference at Columbus. ENCOURAGING PROSPECTS! On Wednesday last over one hundred of the representative men of the Democratic and Lib eral Republican Parties met at Thurman Hall, in Columbus, for consultation on the political sit uation. All parts of the State were represented, and an active campaign to get out the stay-at-home vote was recommended. Among those who participated in the meeting were Pendleton, Ewing, McCook, Dodds, McKen ney and L. T. Neal. Nearly ev- ery Radical, it was found, voted at the late election to further aid the fraud and corruption of that party, while from fifty to five hundred Democrats in a county had neglected to vote. Every man present at the meeting was convinced in the belief that a full Democratic and Liberal Republican vote would defeat Grant in Ohio, and all gave the Liberal Republicans credit for their activity in the late canvass. No Democrat or Liberal of Vinton county must fail to vote for Greeley on Tues day, November 5th ! ENCOURAGING PROSPECTS! South Carolina Election-- ENCOURAGING PROSPECTS! South Carolina Election--Gain of One Congressman. An election for Governor and State officers took place last Wednesday in South Carolina. The Democrats had no ticket in the field, and the contest lay be tween the Regular Radicals un der one Moses, and the Bolting Radicals under Tomlinson. Suf ficient returns have been received to indicate the success of the Regular ticket by a large major ity. The only organized opposi tion made by the Democrats in the entire State was shown in the South Congressional Dis trict, comprising the City of Co lumbia, where Hon. Benj. F. Perry, ex-Provisional Governor under Johnson's administration, defeated the Radical nominee, Wallace, by a handsome ma jority. Don't give up the good ship Ohio because the pirates have captured Pennsylvania. Every man to his post! Stand by the guns! Victory is ours! . . It cost Ben Eggleston just $10,000 to be beaten for Con gress in the First Ohio District by Milton Saylee. He will never run aga'in. Go to the election and vote for Greeley. He is pledged to every measure best calculated to promote the interests of the WHOLE PEOPLE! Virginia farmers are dis posed to strike against the mill ers, who only return a barrel of flour for six and six and a half bushels of wheat There are 899 convicts .in the Penitentiary now. There were 900, but they hung Barclay the other day. The gross receipts of the Western Union Telegraph Com pany for the year ending the 30th ult., were $8,467,995.77. Editor Enquirer As your friend and proprietor of the Record is amusing himself in some silly reflections on one who has said nothing concerning him, I thought a brief notice of his situation might not be out of place, and perhaps is what he most needs. I will frankly inform your friend of the Record that men never get above nor go beyond their destiny that I suppose he is answering the end for which he was made, namely: To show the contrast between a man who has a mintf of his own, and one like himself who has none at all. It is not my province to ad vise an editor in his profession, but when Mr. Raper tries his hand again he should load his shell with something that men like to read. His representation of the Judge, which appears in his paper of October 10th; is probably amusing to himself and other kittens of his party, but men, (if there are any such in the ranks of the Record.) who think above the common level of political slang and hate, have no taste for such froth as emanates from the brain of Capt John T.
