We must turn our attention to immigration into our country of an industrious class of white people who will not only improve our lands but will also improve our society. This can only be accomplished by en couraging immigration. The cultivation of sweet potatoes has alwa) been shamefully neglected. They readily yiekrtfrom a hundred to a hundred and fifty bushels to the acre, and aside from their excellence for the table, experiments have shown that they are an excellent and very cheap food for cattle and horsec.
