An experiment waa made last summer to arrive at some definite conclusion. The Kielun regi ment was supplied with appliances that completely protected the men j from niosouito bites. None of these soldiers had inalania during the sum mer. The other troops on the island, however, were afllicteil with malarial diseases, aa usual. From being a breeding place of dis ease Havana has been converted into one of the healthiest cities. Malaria, which was a scourge for cent ries, has been greatly ameliorated; leprosy is untier control; yellow fever has been practically stamped out. It is not to be assumed that the old order will ever be revived, but it will be interesting hereafter to note how the sanitarv regulations established by the Amer icana are maintained. There are great businesses foutidtd on ten per cent short. It is queer that a man or con cern'll expose hisor its nakedness so; but he does, and it does. Look out. But that isn't all to look out for. Some give full measure, and cheat in the quality. What do you paint for. the looks? or to keep your house from rotting? Both, of course. A big hotel man painted Devoe eight years ago; was going to paint it again eight years is a good lone time for a hotel, you know struck a bargain; saved five cents a gallon: and missed levoe. Poor fellow ! There isn't an oz. of lead in his paint we don't know- how good or bad it is; but there isn't any lead in it. Yours truly. M) F. W. Devoe Co. P. S. W. E. Lamson. Randolph.
