Passed on from the terrcslrial into the celestial life Monday, IVc. 11, at the home of his son, Edmund, in Granville, Georire V. Wilson, at the age of KI yc-jrs, 10 months and six day. Mr. Wilson was Lorn in Le isville, N. Y., Feb. 5. 1KB, of poor, but re; ectable, parentage and the family fieing large, as the custom waa in those days, he left his home and started out into the world to right life' battle hand-to-hand. When only ten or twelve years old, he came into Vermont and lived awhile in Whiting, but feeling that be was not receiving iuue alt of the advantages that were netssary for a progressive young American, he left be tween two day and crossed over the Green mountains into the healthy town of Barn ard and worked for awhile at lilac ksmith ing. Then he went to Bridge ater and worked at the business until he learned the trade and then built a shop and auc cessfully worked there for several ycara. Feb. 6, 1N43. w ben twenty-one years old, he married Mary Ann Briggs of Bridge water and all of the fortune that he bad at that time was hia young w ife and hi strong right arm, but there were the attri butes of a man w it bin hnn and they soon began to make themselves manifest. In IN.", he bought a farm aud moved from Bridgewater to Granville, buiit a shop and worked at farming and hlack smithing for t years. While be lived in town he was elected tow u representative, justice of the peace and held other im portant omces most of the tune. June 12, l.sM, Mrs. Wilson died, leaving a son and daughter who had grown up to manhood and womanhood The daughter had married C. G. Vinton of nancock. ntie ait-n let. Is, IMS), n puij he married Mr. Wrn. Wright of Granville' While living in Hancock. Mr. Wilson waa elected representative, justiee of the peace and to other important ollices. In October, lsaii his health having failed, he sold hi farm, bought a house and moved into Rochester village, hoping that by rest he might recuperate, but it was a vain de lusive hope, for hia life staff had become old and weak and trembled like a reed in the wind. Jan. l"i, 1!K, hia second w ife suddenly died, who had so kindly and faithfully ministered to bun, and as he had become partially belph-sf be came to Granville to live w ith his son. Edmund, and family w ho watched by hia bedside w ith kinrt' sotu-itou care until the iinnmniK ...J and he crossed over the border to the life unknown, expecting and illini? to .h. er up the harvest of that m hu-h he bad sown. Fortunate ia the man m ho has a son w honi he ran lean upon m hile eoini? It haa been our good fortune to he inti mately acquainted with Mr. W ilson for more than forty year and our thoughts will return with pleasure to the renunis- i oences of former years.
