As a case in point we refer to the S presentation on Friday evening of the Beesac ) Mexican medal to Mr. Herman Popp, in the w midst of the most hearty congratnlations of d his fellow members, as the beet drilled member of the Alanns Light Infantry. Mr. Popp fought, daring the late war in the United States army, 3 as a member of the 12th Maryland Infantry, and was a true and brave soldier on that side. u After the war he settled in our midet, and by o his quiet iludostry sdoared the repeect and high regard of all with whom he came in con U tact, and the honors ofa company, which some in the North are accustomed to think almost a treasonable organ ztion, have beer conferred upon this old U. S. soldier with the universal approbation of all its semnbers, a large portion of whom were his enemies in war. Thus will it be always with brave men.
