It is now probablo that tho Aransas Pass striko will ceaso to exist within twenty-four hours. Tho olivo branch has been passed between both parties, tho receiv ers and tho strikers. At tho two meet ings of tho railway employes, ono held at the Mission garden and tho other at Jones' hall, tho committees, numbering thirty-five, were selected to arbitrate tho mattor with tho receivers at a confer ence to take place today nt the Odd Fel lows' hall at 11 o'clock. A large delega tion representing employes of other roads, came in last night and are nil earn est in their desire to secure a satisfactory adjustment of the trouble which has cost tho Aransas Pass road over $100, 000, tho people of San Antonio nnd along tho San Antonio and Aransas Pass over $500,000 and tho strikers soveral thous and dollars, All aro now wishing for ho whito winged angel of pcaco to perch on tho standards of tho combatants, and with this end in view it is estimated that no action is likely to take place in the Forty-fitty judicial court in the case of contempt until after tho settlement. The nccidont occurred on a fifty-foot embankment, down winch four cars rolled, the engine and one bag gage car keeping the track. Tho trouble is supposed to bo duo to a broken rail. The first passenger coach rolled over three times. It was full of passengers and caught fire from tho stove, but all tho occupants escaped alive. Tho bag- gago nnd express car went noiio in it were esoverely hurt. over, but Tho ladies' coach was literally torn to pieces, also tho parlor car. Here tho greatest dam ago done. Thero wss hardly a passenger on the train who escaped injury. Help was soon at hand and in a few moments tho road was full of maimed on tho way to town. There were three theatrical troops on botrd, one of which, tho "City Club" Builesquo company, wero com pletely broken up, nearly every member sustaining senons injuries. Tho killed are: Ben Hamburg of Cincinnati, travel ing man; Madam ErnaVniiltokey of -tho "City Club" company. Many aro wounded. An Old Mlhcr'n Money. Nashville, Jan. IS. Some moths ago a miserly old fellow named Hilton, liv ing near Franklin, Ky., found himself at death's door. Ho quarreled with his wife and desired to keep her from enjoy ing his estate. Ho made a servant bring him a nail keg, which ho placed on tho fire. About this tinio a maiden sister of Hilton's canto in and rescued tho keg, which when opened was found to con tain $50,000 111 bonds. Sho took them homo with her for safo keeping. Old Hilton died and when tho administrator was appointed tho sister surrendered tho bonds, but was surprised to find that all but $17,000 had been stolen. Some weeks ngo the city marshal of Franklin, Ky., named Stanford, came to Nashville and cashed some of tho coupons from tho missing bonds, and was arrested on a charge of bringing stolen property into tho state. Last Wednesday un known parties surrendered to Hilton's administrator $53,000 and tho case againstStanford was not to bo prosecuted. Illco to Succeed Cotton. Memphis, Jan. 12. Eureka, Kan., Jan. 13. Win. Coul ter, a fanner living ten miles northwest of this city, was murdered in the pres ence of his family Saturday ovening. Just before Coulter camo from work an unknown man, masked, opened tho door and stopped into tho room with a re volver in each hand.
