The weather during tho greater por tion of last week was so exceedingly disagreeable that tho sooial world was quiet perforce. However it is proba ble that tho season is about over any way, and any affairs in tho futuro will very 1 ikoly be only of and for the clubs. Brilliant or notable entertain ments do not often occur as lato as April in Waoo, though wo quito a number in April of last year, but they were given in honor of tho visiting Knights Templar, and the convention of dollars, later in the month. Wo have heard of nothing of the kind for this spring, as no important conven tions seems to be sot for mooting in Waco at any oarly dato. Politics seem to have gotton tho up per hand of society for tho present, and oven tho ladies, over their tea and whist, aro fighting tho battlos of thoir favorite candidates. The chief feature of tho past week was Miss Davis' "Boudoir Tea" on Monday afternoon last. About thirty ladies wero present and wero most charmingly entertained. Tho quota tions wero from Hamlet. The play just finished by tho literary class. Muoh artistio taste was displayed in tho arrangement of the profusion of lovely flowers that adorned the room. Among the guests wero Mrs. Henry White of Brazoria nd Mrs. John W. Castles of New Orleans. Mrs. Rounsasall entertained a num ber of friends at a progressive rounoo party Friday night at her elegant new home on banger Avonuo. Miss Maggie Jones and Mr. llonfro B. iSanton were married on last Mon day afternoon at tho Washington street Christian ohuroh in tho presence of a large number of friends, Rev. Mr. Calvin performing the ceremony. There wore no attendants, tho bridal couplo being attended only by the ushers Messers H, L. Taylor, R. H. Banton, John M. Dookery, Jas.
