What I Know About Hardware and
Republics.
Of all tho great republics of Europo
none have survived but Little Switzer
land, which is always in danger of be
ing 'swallowed" by one of her power
ful neighbors, and Franoo which is
still in the experimental stage.
Mexico, Central and South Africa
have yet O show to tho world that
they are capablo of self-government.
They are as unstablo and turbulent
politically as they aro subject to vol
oanic eruptions and earthquakes sub-
terraneously. JNono ot tucm would be
able to repell an attack by a first-class
European power. Tho United States
is tho only successful republic of mod
ern times who is capablo to repell any
attack from neighbors or abroad, but
her danger is inherent. It is universal
suffrage. In tho very nature of things,
the ignorant and vicious cannot rule
over the intelligent and virtuous.
Every attempt of an ignorant majority
to rule over an intelligent minority
will result in anarohy and revoultion.
The greatest problem for statesmen to
solve is how to purify tho ballot, bow
to elliminato force, fraud and briboryj
for if tho offspring of forco and fraud
aro to rulo this country, tho days of
this republic are numbered. Do you
intend to camp out this summer ? I
can furnish you tents of all these sizes:
5x7, 7x7, 7x9, SxlO, 10x12, 10x14,
i2xi4, 12xlG, 14x10, 14x18, and
luxlb in 9 oz, 10 oz and 12 oz duok
If you do not want a now tent I will
sell you a second-hand one at a ro
duced prioo, or rent you one by the
day or week.
Yours for hardware

Fourth and Mary Streets
