Whhat 1 Know About Hardware
and Our Artesian Wells.
There is no doubt that our artesian
water comes from a higher level than
tho highest point in and around Waoo
for water positively refuses to run up
hill of its own accord. As the slope
of the country is from northwest to
to southeast, there aro strung grounds
to believe that the underground
waters follows tho same course, liko
the rivers. Rains falling on the sandy
plains of tho northwest find their way
botween fissures of rock into beds of
Band and gravel. This naturl filter to
ur ves overy partiolo of organic mat
ter. When tappod hero, tho wator
has only a few harmless minerals in
solution which it has pioked up in its
long underground route. The value
of tlieso wells to Waco and Texas is
inestimable While wo have in the
city tho best and oheapest water it
may revolutionize farming. Tho
farmer may tap an inexhaustablo res
ervoir to drench his crops, instead of
depending on the lioklo Texas rains.
I am still in the screen business
and can furnish you all kinds and
sizes of doors and window frames at
bottom piices. I havo a large stock of
spring hinges, Toroy springs, groon
and rust-prpof wiro oloth. In lawn
mowers I oan give you the best at tho
lowost price. Havo you ever been
troubled with leaky hose? Try my
solid seamless rubber tubo hose. It
will not loak.
Yours for hardware,
Ed. Strauss,
Fourth and Mary Streets.
Tho Houston & Texas Central will
give the following special rates on
April 16 and 17 on account of tho
meeting of the Sons of Horrman at
Houston, double ohilds rate will bo
given. On April 19 and 20 on account
of tho meeting of tho Knights Templars
at iorsicana a rato same as above will
be given. To Tyler for tho Medical As
sociation a ono ana one third taro lor
round trip will bo mado. Dates for
sale April 25 and 26 good for roturn
until May 1.

This beautiful suburb of tho oity of
Waoo is now attracting more atten
tion than any other part of the city.
Thero are soveral reasons for this.
1. The lotb in Edgofield aro sold at
a very reasonable price.
2. It is close to the schools, and
only twenty minutes walk from tho
poatoffioe.
3. Tho lots are on high, sandy soil;
no black mud.
4. The priooB and terms are vithin
the roaoh of most anyone.
Thero aro now eevoral new houses
going up and many sales of lots are
being made. The dummy road is to
be transformed into an clectrio road
soon, and this runs within one blook
of EdgcCeld. Tho city has just let
tho contract for a bridge on First
stroot, which shortens up tho distance
to Edgofield materially.
Now as a sample of the bargains I
will offer this week ono lot with two
room house at ton dollars per month.
Another corner lot with good two
room house and well cf water only
$12 BO per month. Another lot with
throo-room house only $l.r per month.
Also vacant lots at $375 to $500.
Houses and lots in other portions ol
the oity on easy terms aud very low
prices. Call and lot mo show you a
bargain. Jamks I. Moork.
