Editors Bsoner: In my perigrinations through this county I find many strange and some remarkable characters. But the most remarkable that has to for come within my notice is an old' negro woman named Rachel Brown, living on the plantation of Mr. John M. Brown, near Rock Island. She says "she is' one hundred and twenty years old. I cannot certify as to the correctness of her statement as it goes some half century back of my personal recollection, but I can say that she shows every appearance of extreme old age. The man with whom she lives and who says he has supported and maintained her ever sice freedom, is himself a grand sire, and he states that this womin Rachel Brown, though not his mother, raised him and that he believes she is of the age she claims to be. When I saw her she was sitting in a bent and drawn up position, with a well worn com-stai in her trembling hand, to support her deenpit form. Don't you think her an object well worthy the chanty of this county? I ia. Cituev.
