broidered in a fine close pattern
with jet beads.

EI Paso Times.
Ysleta, Texas, is one of the
most interesting towns in the
" world. The inhabitants con
sist of Indians, Mexicans, and
40iwliite men and 16 white wo
men. There are half and quarter-breed
Indians and half and
quarterbreed Mexicans, and the
women are from perfect daises
down to real hard cases. There
are a few white men -here who
have married into both Indian
and Mexican families, who are
rich and walk around at their
leisure, drink their EI Paso wine
and eat grapes. Every acre of
land is in cultivation or subject
to cultivation by irrigation. The
Rio Grande river is one mile
wide at this place. There are
all kinds ol summer,fall and
winter peaches, apples and apri
cots. The houses are built of
adobes, nicely plastered, and
are comfortable as brick houses.
The town is as quiet and peace
able as any place anywhere.
John Williams, a merchant of
Rutledgc, Georgia, sued a des
perado. The defendant entered
the store in a furious passion,
held out the summons in one
hand, clutched a long knife in
the other, and said: ''Williams,
have you sued me?" Williams
knew that an immediate "Yes"
would make him sure of a stab.
"Let me gef my spectacles so
that I can read the, paper," he
said.' He went behind the coun
ter and came back, not with his
glasses, but -with an ase-across
