Contracts for several fine 'build ings will probably be let in Palestine immediately. Gertrude Kirchner jumped from a street car at San Antonio Monday and broke her leg. Adolph Pari suicided near Cor pus Christi by shooting himself with & shot-gun recently. Eastland county has under con sideration the construction of three or four bridges in the county. Dink Davis, of Weatherford, who was shot last week by Prof. Moore, at Poolville, died Monday. A fire at Seymour Sunday night destroyed a block of frame build ings. Loss S7000, insurance 5000. Terrell has leased her water works to the Terrell ice light and water company for a period 30 years. Bob Jenkins and his father-in-law Henry P. Chambers were found killed about fourteen miles from Bastrop Monday. Bastrop is going to have an ar tesian well for a water supply. The new brick blocks there are rapidly nearing completion. Ed Scott and W. B. Anson two men who burglarized the gun store of Hummell & Son at San Antonio have been arrested. Ella Harris took an ounce .of landamm at Sulpher Springs Mon day and came near dying. Patrick Kelly tried to commit suicide in Houston Monday by cut ting his throat but made a failure, though he made two bad wounds. H. T. Charlie Johnson was killed Sunday morning at Texarkana while switching cars. , Ho fell and the wheels of two cars run over both legs gust below the knee. Morris who recently broke guard has been captured near Quan nah. While searching for him John Freeman and Will Hill, wanted in Montague county for horse stealing were captured. Ft Worth is protesting against other towns sending their cases of smallpox there because she takes good care of them. They claim to have been imposed on this way five times this season. Mills, of Texas, will make a critical analy sis of the. census, to show that it is so seriously defective as to be use less. In the same number of The Forum, Senator Hoar, of Massachu setts, who was the champion of the Election Bill in the Senate, con structs an argument to prove that the Republican party was untrue to its precedents and to its principles, because the late Congress adjourned without enacting the Election Bill. He argues that the series of great historical achievements of the Re publican party suffered so serious a breach by this inactivity, that they must find new vigor to make its future in any way worthy of its pa3t.
