Norman :—Too dry for crops ; col Ion firing aud dro|> piug leaves ; late corn hoods rain ; pur. tatoos backward." "Carlisle, M. R. Jones:—Good hay week ; last plowing in many crops; early corn will bo found shucky ; lale corn too full o! sap to stand much dry weather." From other quarters of Iho county tho reports,on tho whole, are discoura ging. All agree that the cotton plant is poorly fruited, and that present pros pects indicate a decrease in the yield of all least 25 or 30 per pared with last year. T ot the past five or six days are proving injurious. Neither is the corn crop fulfilling its early promise. A large proportion of this crop in Claiborno county is plant ed iu hill lauds from which »II veget able matter bas been washed out, and which consequently suffers from even a short spell of dry weather. Such crops were seriously injured by the dry spell ot about two weeks, pic ccding the late rams; but ihcro Is still hope lliat the couuty will make c tiough corn for her own needs, though there inav not bo a surplus as was ex pected a few weeks ago. ri cent as coin i'he daily rains A Dastarih y Outkaok.—O n Sun day morning last there was an excur sion from this city to Vicksburg, which was a very pleasant affair until the re turn trip was being made, told that abouV 10:15 p. in., just as the I rain was pulling out of i'ort Gibson,a crowd of noisy uegrocs who were 011 tbe platform began to brickbat the coaches, breaking the windows, and this oui rage was followed by 0110 of the parties firing n pistol shot at the conch. Low Prices* Always Keep a Poll Stock of Botterick's Patterns, Setropolitans and Delineators, The Deering Ideal Mower WITH riCYOLE BEARINGS. r' I x' & 9 $ v 1 beg to announce to my friends and patrons, that I am handling the Deering Ideal Mower again this season and will continue to do so. ' Will add that the Deering Ideal Mower is the latest improvement made by William Deering & Co. on the new Deering machine, and is the lightest draft of all mowers combined. The Ideal was given highest honors at the World's Fair because it showed a draft of only pounds against 152 pounds for its lightest competitor of the same width and cut. Since the fair it has been winning "hands down" in every part of the world. The Bicycle Ball Bearing gives the Ideal the light draft it has. These, steel balls change the sliding contact into rolling contact and makes the Ideal Mower move easily and quickly along through the most difficult crops. The Serrated Ledger Plates Hold up the fine grasses and press-against the knives. They make the Ideal mower the only on c that can run slow and do as perfect work in difficult grass, and the only one that can stop and start as of ten as you wish without backing. There are many other points bearing upon the superiority of this ma chine to others which I. will be glad to show any one wanting a mower. I also handle all parts of mow ers that may be needed at anytime and the Deering Harvester oil which keeps the bearings cool, and the best lubricating oil for any machinery. Fall payments accepted for mowers where security is given, or good paper. Very Truly, J. H. DANJEAN. Hotel. Piazza, Wiwhiugton Street,| * VICKSBURG, : MISSISSIPPI.
