Russum, who has lived at his present residence since boy hood days, satisfied and happy in the association of a loving family whom he has left behind to mourn his loss. He was a descendant of the Wat sons, and a sou of W. P. Russum, who emigrated from Maryland in the pioneer settlement of our sec tion and the halcyon days of yore, and has lived within a mile of his birthplace all his life, respected by his neighbors and friends. He en tered the army when quite young in Capt. Joe Magruder's company, Col. Stockdale's regiment, and gave four years of his life in defence of the fireside and homes of the South ern people, ever ready to do his duty in military or private life. The writer has been associated with him from and through boy hood days, and ever found him * generous, kind and sympathetic in all his intercourse. Mankind all have their weaknesses, but let us throw the mantle of charity over each one's shortcomings and re member only the nobleness of their lives.
