Martin and Alberger say they have a sure thing on both games, while Gold enberg and Haueisen say they will have to show them. The local bowling enthusiasts would like to know whether Chas. Trueter pulled that giant catfish out of the Me dina or whether he rolled him out. He is considered one of the best bowlers on the Turner alleys. The Alamo Tron Work bowling team will begin their active practice, start ing in next Monday night, on the Bee thoven alleys. The bowling enthusiasts in the em ploy of Wolff & Marx Co. have organ ized a nine pin elub and will .start in with their first practice tonight on the Mission Garden alleys. Sutnmerfield $s the leader of the movement The Laurel Ladies’ Bowling chib held a well attended practice yesterday afternoon on their alleys at Sommer’s garden. — Now that the Socials have won from all comers in their class the teams like the Owls, Bronehos, Hasbeens and such strong members are looking for/ a chance to turn the Socials’ winning streak. Pittsburg, Pa., Aug. 20. —Battling I desperately, one to kill and the other i to save his life, two convicts of the Western penitentiary in a cell <>n Mon day afternoon furnished a thrilling af termath of the daring attempt at jaii delivery discovered at the big prison last Thursday afternoon. As the result of the fight, the termination of a long standing feud, Henry Clark is in the prison hospital with several stab wounds in the stomach and his assail ant, Dominick Ricco, is in solitary con finement, as are the two five-year term prisoners accused of digging the re cently discovered tunnel. The wounded man will probably recover. The battle occurred in the victim’s cell, in the south block of the prison. Both men are said to have borne ha tred for each other for years. Ricco noticing that the doors of both his cell and that of his enemy were open and no guard in sight, stole quietly to the neighboring cel] with a table knife in his hand. Clark was prepared for the attack. The men struggled for 10 min utes before the guards separated them. The ••recall” of three of the commissioners under the ''recall” election system was proposed. Mayor Davidson, who was elected with the understanding that the near beer resorts would be closed, seems powerless to stop prohibition violations and it has been found that one resort which had been closed for six months, sold 200 eases of genuine beer within six hours.
