It was a moment of exultation fot
tbe Cubans, and tbe fact that the star*
and stripes floated from its customary
flagstaff beside tbe Cuban flag over th«
castle did not lessen their enthusiasm
Tbe Cuban flag flying over Morro

raised over the senate chamber. When

pine bill.
Special orders have been made In
the house for the consideration of sev
eral bills to follow the disposition of
District of Columbia business. They
Include the bill to authorlxe the Is
sue of passport· to residents of our
insular possessions, the Adams bill
for the reorganization of the consular
•ervice and a day for the consideration
of war claims. The conference report
on the omnibus claims btll will also be
considered this week. Such time as
remains will be devoted 'to the naval
appropriation bill.
Potato Crop of Oklahoma.
Outhrie. O. T.. May 12.—Few realize
the vast amount of potatoes that will
be shipped from Oklahoma this aea
son. Last year there were 350 car
load· shipped from Shawnee alone,
and moat conservative estimates of
the number of car· that will be
•hipped this season range from 1500
'to 2000. Freight officials were In that
city Saturday and met representative·
of the Potatoe Growers' association,
with a view to perfecting arrange
ment· to handle the crop. The asso
ciation has received twelve carload·
at sack·
