The Light is pleased to announce to its readers that it has arranged with tli* Chautauqua board to fur nish each tent on the Chautauqua grounds with a copy of the Light ' every day during the session FREE OF CHARGE. Papers will he sent out each afternoon and delivered to the tents of the campers. Local re porters on the grounds will furnish full reports of the proceedings each day in addition to our reports of th< night services. The Chautauqua board of direc tors hare marie a mistake which may prove serious. The young ladies referred to were enjoying a glass soda at a well known cold drink etaiul. While sipping the sparkling libation they were engaged in a dis cussion of the Chautauqua. "It is just perfectly horrible," said one. "Just to think, last year the state encampment and Chautau qua were held at the same rime and the young men could not be here and this year the same thing has occurred again. There was considerable activity In and around the court house today, occasioned by the calling of the criminal docket. They were here from all parts of the county and the Crowd was made un all sizes and ages, black and white, both male and female. In the Erinif contin gent there were quite a number of boys in knee pants who came to tes tify against saloon men on alleged charges of selling to minors. The forenoon and most of the af ternoon was devoted by the court in calling cases anil totting them for trial. Boaz, president of the Polytechnic College at Fort Worth, occupied the pulpit at the Methodist church last night, preaching a ser mon on the theme of Christian ed ucation. Mr. and Mrs. Brown have moved to ,\Vaxahachie from Cleburne and have rented the lower part of MaJ. Ε. H. Griffin's residence on Oldham avenue. They will board Mr. Grif fin's family. On account of the growth in their grocery business T. W. Parks A Co. have placed a new delivery wagon in service. This was made neces sary to supply the city trade with prompt deliveries. The Daily Light has arranged with the Chautauquaboard whereby one copy of the Daily Light will be left at each tent on the grounds every evening during the entire session of the Chautauqua. Dr. Bismark Ferguson, brother of Dr. W. B. Ferguson, of this city, was recently appointed chief physi cian of the Rescue Home at San Antonio. Dr. Ferguson is a talent ed young medico and has quite a number of friends and schoolmates in Waxahachie who will he grati fied to learn of his appointment. Rev. J. C. Smith, wife and little daughter, Marie, and a representa tive of the Light were the guests of Mr. W. S. Smith at dinner yesterday at the Rogers hotel. Irish potatoes, tomatoes, hominy, chicken ρ i e, meats, watermelons, cake and cream comprised the mena, all of whip h were served in an appetizing man ner. Chautauqua Rules. The following rules have been adopted by the i'ark Association and the board of directors of the Chautauqua. All trash, rubbish, paper etc.,' must be deposited in tra il barrels conveniently located throughout the) grounds. All campers must provide slop cans, a wagon will call and empty them every morning. No slops al lowed to be emptied on the grounds. Adjoining ground has been pro vided for stock and no stock or dogs will be allowed within the park. Driving will be permitted in the park until ? p. m., when all vehicles must be removed. Horses must (»e confined to a walk. Under no cir cumstances will fast driving be ( permitted. j Ample hitchinir places are pro vided outside the park and no ve-1 hides will be permitted inside after j 7 ρ» πι. This is imperative. No boisterous languagefor disturb ances will be permitted. The laws j pertaining to disturbing public wor ship is applicable to this assembly. Defacing or mutilation of build ings, property or trees will not be permitted under penalty of law. Physicians on entering the audi toriuni will advise the usherof their location as calls will not he an nounced from the stajre. All articles lost will be deposited : at Trinity University Headquarters; and persons finding articles are re quested to leave same at the place above designated. The use of sling shots, air nuns, or fire arms will not be permitted on the grounds. Bicycle riding positively forbid den within the enclosure. The grounds will be patrolled at 8 a. m. every day. Have your tick ets ready to display. Show your tickets at the gate. No one will b* permitted to enter without a ticket. This is positive. The police will see tl at the above regulations are enforced. These rules are for the comfort and protection of the people and it is believed that the mere announce ment of them will secure their ob servance.
