GOL TRICE AID DALLAS r Company Owns Valuable Prêt* erty on Commerce Street. Dallas Times-Herald. The International and Great North era railroad will build into Dallas at an early day. This much is certain. Colonel Leroy Trice, third vice pres ident and general manager of the road, gave this assurance to the Dallas business men at Palestine yesterday, as told in the telegra h columns of the Times-Herald last evening. Mr. Royal A. Ferris is a member of the railroad committee. He assisted in the work of raising the bonus and in procuring the right of way for the Rock Island as well as the International and Great Northern railroad. Mr. Ferris is a member of the Dallas business men's excursion party and Mr. Alex Hanger, another active member of the committee, is in New York City on business. The cheering news from Palestine was well received in Dallas, as the International and Great Northern is certain to prove a big acquisition, as it will open up a new trade territory for Dallas job bers and manufacturer·. The In ternationa! and Great Northern owns valuable property on Com merce street, just west of the Ter minal station, but it is believed in local railroad circles that Colonel Trice will elect to use the Terminal passenger station. His plans in clude a iarge freight depot on the south side of Commerce street. In County Court. AT THE TEMPLE OF JUSTICE Business Has Been Qniet Since Ceort Adjourned. Since the adjournment of district court everything has been quiet around the court hcuse. The com missioner»· court is in session this week, but outside of routine business, nothing has come before that body to attract any special at tention. In the district clerk's office Clerk Burleson and his efficient assistant, E. P. Ketnble, have been transfer in^ the cases continued from last term of court to new dockets and getting things in shape to begin making transcripts in the cases which will be appealed. Out of the six convictions in the criminal de partment of the court five have given notice of appeal, and an efTor will be made to get them before the court of criminal appeals at Austin before the court moves to Tyler, June 1. The case that was not appealed is that of Lavina Washington, the ne gro woman who was convicted of manslaughter and given three years in the penitentiary. She has ac cepted -.entence and is waiting to l e taken to the pen. If the case of Brozier Smith is affirmed when it goes up it will be some time next fall before his execution will take place, as sentence cannot be passed on him until district court convenes the fourth Monday in next Septem ber. In the meantime Brozier will spend his time in the county jail where he appears to be making the be-t of the situation. He is at all times in a jolly mood and feels con fident of a reversal of his case. CHRISTIAN BAPTISM The Subject of Pastor McPher· son's Sermon tonight. Mr. McPhersou will preach to night at the Main Street Christian church on "Christian Baptism." In announcing it last night he said that sometimes this subject is very much avoided, but that the messen ger of the Lord said to the disciples "Go and preach to the people all the words of this Life" and that we had as much risjht to keep silent on any other word of our Master as on this He eaid that the sermon would be an earnest, bon» st inves tigation to what the Word of God says on this suoject. and invited all to come a?id give it an impartial hearing.
