Austin, Tex., Jan. 12 —An impor tant question has been asked the Attorney General with reference to the payment of poll tax on Sunday. it happens this year, an flection year for all officers from President flown, that the last day of qualify ing to vote In Texas falls an Sun day, Jan. 31, the law being that all poll taxes must be paid before Feb. 1. The question asked the Attorney General is whether a poll tax re ceipt ifiven on said last day. Sun day, Is valid and will be accepted by the election judges. Judge T. S. Johnson, Office As sistant Attorney General, who has been in charge of all matters per taining to the election law and qual ifications, has written an opinion ndvising th»* inquirer that poll tax*·* , ?an be legally paid on Sunday.
