I>r. H. W. Heurs. Dr. Sears" lecture in the evening >n "More Taffy and Less Epitaph y," iroved highly entertaining. The lumor, so intensely interesting all he way through, that he captivated lis audience at the very outset and carried them through to the end without a single one feeling tired or wishing to go away. In fact, when lie came to close his lecture, there were many calls from the great audi ence to keep on. All who heard him his evening will hear him tomorrow svening, and many more will come. —Peoria Journal. I)r. Sears will lecture at the opera louse tonight. Black I'atti's Troubadours. From the press matter furnished by the advance agent of the Black Patti Troubadours the following is taken : The Black Patti show has ruade a hit with society in New York, New port, Saratoga. Lakeview. Tuxedo, Washington, Boston, Philadelphia, jnd Baltimore. The smart set in these social centers were completely apt hated by recent performances by these merry Troubadours, who are now on their tenth American tour, a.nd it gave them the stamp of fash ion. The swell specialties, whirl wind cakewalkers, sensational danc srs, Weber and Fieldian ebony tint id choristers, comic characters and sweet voiced soloists, so completely fascinated society that its leaders have ordained that the correct thing for the theatre is a Black Patti Trou badours' Young People's matinee or ι Black Patti Troubadours evening box party. In the Southland the froubadours seem to give more pleasure and create more enthusiasm imong its patrons^—especially when , singing Southern refrains. The Troubadours will appear at ι :he opera house tomorrow night. Lord Baltimore. The Galveston News has the fol lowing to say of the attraction which will appear at the opera house Sat urday night: "Lord Baltimore." a realistic sen sational comedy-draina, attracted ?reat crowds at both the matinee and aight performances yesterday. The play, while melo-dramatic and sensa tional in many of its features, is well worth seeing, and nothing is lost by the presentation by Jap Rentfrow's company. Walter Duffiele, the vil lain. is perhaps the weakest member pf the cast. Ed Berger, as the tramp, who always happens in at the prop per moment, is perhaps the strong est member. Otherwise the com aany is pretty wen oaiancea. Aiier , he first and second acts specialties were Introduced. Leon and Bertie Allen, who both possess good voices, iave a singing and talking stunt af er the first act. After the second ict Jap Rent f row and Miss Lorine , lansen rendered "the Second Mr. Fiddle," a clever farce thai created rounds of applause. Foot bal 1 Association.
