J bonate. Sulphate costs about half; jand covers about half. That paint was adulterated about six times as much as the 5 cents paid for. He "saved" 5 cents; and it cost him 30. Oh no; it cost him more than that; we forgot the labor. Can't work it out exactly; don't know how long it'll wear Short measure besides; that alone! was twice as much as his "saving" j 5 cents. It was thin, too, some loss there; don't know how much. There was too much dryer in it. The maker made something on that; he didn't. Taking it altogether, he didn't make much by that 5 cents. The Katy Is j using a large number of oil tank j cars to transport water to points j needed also a number of tub cars ; which are made and fitted up in the j local car shops. A large amount of ; water is being taken from their well j near Warner Junction and hauled to ; places where needed. Most of the j section gangs are also supplied with ; water from the Warner well. A telephone message was received 1 early this morning by Hardy P. j Mizell front Frank Hawkins at Mid lothian, staling that John M. Haw kins, who lived near Fort Worth, had killed his wife »"d then suicided. Mr. Mizell left on the <>:Γΐ0 train o\er t lie (.'entrai for Fort Worth. He was not advised as to the details of the tragedy. Mr. Hawkins was raised in Ellis county and had two brothers living at Midlothian. Other relatives also live at Midlothian and in Wax abachie. For the past two or three years he has resided with his family on a farm two miles east of Poly technic College, Fort Worth. Mrs. Hawkins was a njece of Mr. Mi/.ell. Married at Rod Oak. J. P. Westbrook and Miss Dale lirown were united in marriage on the evening of September Sth at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. aud -Mrs. W. M. Brown, iu Red Oak. Rev. ('. E. I.indsey. pastor in charge of the Red Oak circuit, performed the ceremony. Mr. Westbrook is agent for the Katy at Red Oak, and the bride is one of the town's most accomplished and beautiful young ladies. The fly wheel of a gasoline wood-sawing ma chine burst yesterday at the resi dence of Dr A. L. Montgomery. A large piece of the wheel struck Will Anderson, aged 15, who was stand ing near the engine, tearing the flesh away from his ankle to his knee.
