nent Waco attorney here today states
that the negroes of McLennan county
are all coming In tomorrow to see the
hiatus having been led to believe
that It Is an awful animal by the wags
who have started the story In dis
cussing the arrival of the hiatus
caused by the BasklnMcGrcgor bill
the conversation was heard by some
negroes who mistook the nature of
the hiatus Unfortunately they made
Inquiry of a practical joker who de
scribed a terrible beast due to arrive
tomorrow and called a hiatus The
story spread like wildfire among tho
negroes and the Joke among the white
men with the result of an excursion
into Waco tomorrow to sec the animal
From whence he comes and how has
not been explained though as lie is
reitorted to have aquatic tendencies
he would use the Brazos and Its wa
ters If he stays lone he will forget
his fondness for the liquid as things
will he extremely dry during the hia
tus
NEGRO RIOTS IN PITTSBURG
One Policeman Killed and Another
Perhaps Fataly Injured
Pittsburg Pa July 11 In a fight
between negroes and policemen at
East Pittsburg shortly after midnight
one policeman was killed and another
probably fatally wounded The dead
man was Patrick Sullivan It had
been decided to raid a negro resort In
the rear of a place In Linden avenue
When the officers broke In upon the
men the negroes began shooting Of
ficer Sullivan fell with a bullet In his
bend and died a few minutes later
Another officer whose name could not
be learned was also struck by a bul
let and was hurried to the hospital
