Bay City Mich Feb 10 The
Princelings mill at Crump eighteen
miles noithwest of this city blew up
today killing six workmen outright
fatally injuring two and seriously in
juring many others
The explosion occurred just before
starting time this morning and a
number of the employes were stand
ing about the boiler room getting
warm when the boiler exploded with
out warning A number of miraculous
escapes are reported The mill is lo
cated just outside of Crump a village
of some one hundred and fifty peo
ple The cause of the explosion is
unknown

recognition of the Smithsonian Insti
tute for the achievements in science
of aviation The recognition was
marked by the presentation to the
brothers of the Langley medal au
thorized by the regents of the insti
tution The medal is so named in
honor of Samuel W Langley late sec
retary of the institution who was the
pioneer in aeronautics in this country
Chief Justice Fuller of the United
States supreme court and chancellor
of the institute made the presentation
and was responded to by Wilbur
series of experiments and Orville re

former dock superintendent of the
American Sugar Refining company in
Williamsburg who was convicted of
conspiiacy to defraud the government
in connection with the short weights
in the sugar imports was today sen
tenced to two years in the peniten
tiary at Atlanta The company check
ers convicted at the same time as
Spitzer are now serving one year each
on Blackwells Island Spitzer has
been in the hospital for some tune
and could not be sentenced before to
day He will appeal his case
