John Bars Farmer and Man Well
Known In County Is Arrested
Charged With Incest
At 230 this afternoon John Bars a
white who has been in
man engaged
Ih occupation of farming in this
for several years and at ope
farm was arrested on complaint from
this county by a sheriff at Karnes
City charged with rape and incest
the victim being his own fifteenyear
old daughter
District Attorney Tom Harris and
County Attorney R M Johnson with
others went to the Bars home yester
day and took the depositions of the
girl and her mother to whom the girl
first made the confession of her
fathers fearful crime
The young girl states that the
crime was repeated three times and
that he used force besides she said
she feared him The details are most
revolting It is reported that a
brother attempted to kill the father
when the story was told but was re
strained Then Bars left home He
came to this city and bought a ticket
He was heard of yesterday in Karnes
City was again located there today
and the arrest followed
This is one of the most revolting
crimes ever reported to have been
perpetrated in this county and there
is great indignation over it
The victim is an attractive joung
girl in short dresses
