Wrecking tugs went today to the
place where the collision yesterday
sent the Frank H Goodyear boat to
the bottom of Lake Huron In forty
fathoms of water It is now known
that eighteen lives were lost in the
disaster So far no blame has been
attached for the accident

poned until June 15 because Clay Ar
thur Pierce president of the com

material witness for the defense Is
seriously ill In St Louis The show
ing was made In an application for
continuance supported by affidavits
of two St Louis physicians telling
that President Pierce Is suffering
from tjphold fever aggravated by
complications of kidney trouble The
fever was contracted three weeks ago
in Tampico Mexico
