A good number went to Galveston
today taking advantage of the cheap
excursion
We note that H Horwits purchased
the ladies and childrens readyto
wear stock known as The Model
No doubt this stock was purchased
very close as it has always been the
policy of the Horwits store to buy
goods at his price instead of the other
partys The ladies in this section of
the country are well informed as to
the class of goods the Model handled
and we dont doubt but that there will
be some mightly finely dressed ladies
and children around this vicinity at
some awfully low prices 9lt

Our JULY SALE
of Mens and Boys
CLOTHING
Which was started on the first of this month is
proving successful far beyond our expectations
We of course expected to do a lively business
in the face of the extremely low prices we made
in our clothing department but hardly expected
the tremendous selling we experienced on the
start off We were fortunate In another way too
that is by selling a great variety of suits as well
as a great number thereby keeping our assort
ment intact which enables us to offer you the
same great variety now as we did on the first day
This is the way

Mr Johnson was met at the station
this morning by a reception commit
tee of about one hundred Cleburne cit

Hon E A Rice representative from
this dstrict in the twentyeighth and
twentyninth legislatures presented
General M M Crane of Dallas who
introduced Mr Johnson
There is not but one man in this
race besides the gentleman I shall
present to you who stands a ghost
of a show of being elected said Gen
eral Crane That is Mr Oscar B
Colquitt A voice Hurrah for O B
Colquitt
General Crane May the Lord say
as much for you some time when you
may need it but Im afraid he wont
unless you mend your ways Long
applause Laughter
I present to you Cone Johnson of
Tyler a man who if elected will spend
all of his time in office serving the
people as he Is sworn to do and who
will not accept gifts fees perquisities
or loans from any special interest
Prolonged applause
Mr Johnson began Knowing that
I had some friends in Johnson county
at least fifty laughter I thought I
would accept the invitation to come
here and deliver my message fo you
They talk to you as If statutory pro
hibition had its origin on Mount Sinai
and Wild applause drowned the re
mainder of the sentence
What was the command of Al
mighty God when he said Thou shalt
not kill and Thou shalt not steal
and Thou shalt not lie except the
statutory prohibition of the Almighty
Ruler against these crimes he shout
ed when the applause subsided
Another outburst of approbation
was the reply
Statutory prohibition he added
had its origin when the first legis
lative body of the world met It is
old as the history of civilization
I never heard so much preaching
of the doctrine of legislative impo
tency in my life You listen to any
one of my opponents and they spend
most of their time telling what can
not be done What we want is a

country or in the city If those n the
country are entitled to protection the

The man who has already prom
ised to kill statutory prohibition If it
should be secured as our last resort
has already held up his hands and had
the handcuffs of political promise put
about them and the key is in the pos
session of the whiskey interests of
the state continued Mr Johnson
That man already has the handker
chief of a truce and surrender tied to
his sword and waving in the air He
already compromised our cause Hi3
doctrines are ruinous to us because
his encouragement to the whiskey
traffic is to kill submission by any
means And theyll move heaven

will kill submission they will be out
