a flight of 13 miles in 10 minutes at
the Kinloch aviation meet this after
noon He covered six laps of the

bounds His aveiage speed exceeded
seventyfive miles an hour

Paris Oct 13 Six chiefs of the
striking railroad employes were ar
rested today in the office of the
Humanite the socialist organ after
a scene which threatened serious con
sequences Together with II Juarez
leader of socialism in the chamber of
deputies and sixteen socialist mem
bers of the chamber the strike lead
ers gathered in the newspaper office
and defied arrest Premier Briand or
dered three hundred police to affect
their arrest regardless of conse
quences and at any cost The depu
ties were not arrested though they
surrendered to the police

Starkvllle Colo Oct 13 The
eight bodies found in the wrecked
mine of the Colorado Fuel and Iron
company yesterda > vwere brought to
the surface today making a total of
fourteen corpses removed so far The
rescue workers report that twenty
others have been located and It is
expected that all of the victims will
be brought up by tomorrow Thi

ing of the exhibitors of the East Tex
as Fair which closed at Tyler Sat
urday a resolution was passed unani
mously requesting the fair association
to hold another fair next year Some
four or five counties were represent
ed by the exhibitors and they are
loud in their praise of their treat
ment by the fair management
Along this line the business men
of Tylerwill hold a meeting this week
to perfect a permanent organization
of the East Texas Fair Association

William Eugene Stanley Died at His
Wichita Kas Home Today
Wichita Kas Oct 13 Former
Governor V E Stanley of Kansas
died at his home here today
With the election of Wm Eugene
Stanley as the fifteenth governor of
Kansas in 1898 the passing of pop
ulism in that state was signalized
Stanley defeated John W Leady the
populist governor He was born in
Ohio in 1844 His death was due to
acute indigestion
Carrier Loses Mail and Conveyance

Permenter who was sentenced today
to be hanged on November 25 follow
ing his conviction last night on the
charge of murder in connection with
the killing of Miss Janie Sharpe
was taken to Jackson tonight for safe

court is being prepared

toes clipped from his feet All three

fortunate close of his labors
