DECISIONS FOR CHRIST AND
RIGHTEOUSNESS INTHE UNION
REVIVAL LAST NIGHT AHELP
FUL MESSAGE
The Union revival atvthe Congrega
tional church is beginning to reach
the unsaved Decisions for Christ
were witnessed last night after many
prayer meetings were held in the
homes of every ward in the city by
praying women who are members of
the different churches and by the
ministers and other men at the Y M
C A in the morning and at the
church in the evening before the gos
pel service began
Rev H Howard Davis former pas
tor of the Grace Methodist church
now the assistant secretary of the Y
M C A preached one of the best
sermons that has been delivered dur
ing the revival meeting and the young
and old people and all classes of
people were so helpfully included in
message of the glorious gospel of
the blessed triune God that there
was no trouble to get people to decide
for Christ as a blessed personal
Savior who pleads with all alike say
ing Come unto me all ye that
labor and are heavy laden and I will
give you rest
The following is a brief outline of
the sermon delivered
The 21st chapter of the Revelation
is a picture of the New Jerusalem or
heaven as revealed to John on the
Isle of Patmos It is not the where
or the what of the kingdom of Christ
that we should concern ourselves
about for Chirst said go to pre
pare a place for you and that should
be enough We should however
concern ourselves more than we do
about reaching that place and point
ing others to it The chapter tells us
ttiat heaven stands four square to
the worlds needs and no man can
say that the gates are closed to him
for on each side of the city are three
gates that stand open and ready to
receive The text says On the east
three gates on the north three gates
on the south three gates and on the
west three gates The fact that the
east gate is mentioned first is signif
icant While Christ was on earth
he took up young children and
blessed them and the east gate is
open always to the young to those
on the sunrise side of life And it is
here God intends us to accept Him
that our lives may be given to Him
instead of to evil But as many fail
to accept on this side of the city we
must follow them as they divide and
pass the one on the north with the
cold distant and emotionless nature
and the other on the south whose
nature is sunny and whose lif is
overflowing with evil or with good
the impetuous nature who hates
bitterly or loves much As we fol
low them the three gates are open to
each and the invitation made to come
Finally they all come to the western
side some aie stiU without hope
and without God in the world but as
they turn and look at the city they
still see three gates and a side of the
city as large as before inviting them
to come with cares and burdens so
long carried alone and find rest to
their souls The gates were open
when John saw and they are now
but a day will come when they will
be eternally close Now is the ac
cepted time today is the day of sal
vation Hear the Spirit and the
bride say come and let him that
heareth say come and he that is
athirst come and take of the water of
life freely
Thare will beanother good service
