dispatches showed that a victorious
Mexican revolutionary army under
command of Madero is attacking Chi
huahua and Castro Cienges and the
capture of both cities is imminent
The insurgents have possession of
many towns Excitement along the
American border has not abated It
is certain arms are being smuggled
the border
across
Additional reports froni Gomez
Palacio and Parral declare that the
municipal palace in Parral was burn
ed and scores of persons killed in
cluding the chief of police Reports
also say the government troops
showed rare courage in attacking the
rebels The natives from the church
tops and from houses defended them
selves against the revolutionists
Machine guns have been mounted in
Parral in preparation for an attaclr
by some nine thousand rebels
Telephonic advices from Torreon
say thirteen hundred soldiers engaged1
in battle with four thousand revolu
tionists all night and one hundred
soldiers are reported captured by the
revolutionists Eight hundred addi
tional soldiers are being rushed to
the scene today
The revolutionists are indignant
over the reports that Americans have
been killed They assert these rej
ports are circulated to discredit the
uprising against Diaz nu t

the history of the New Temple The
atre was present last night to wit
ness the Union Label Show given
under the auspices of the Palestino
Trades and Labor Council The en
tertainment consisted of stereopticon
views of labels of various unionmade
goods and working cards of various
unions Mr Collis Lovely of Boston
Mass vice president of the Boot and
Shoe Workers Union delivered a
short and interesting lecture on
Unionism and explained to the peo
ple present the necessity for buying
unionmade goods Three thousand
feet of good moving pictures were
also shown and three pretty illus
trated songs given The entertain
ment as a whole was excellent and
it was an appreciative audience that
crowded the theatie for the occaslo

London Nov 23 Dr H H Crippen
was hanged today at 9 oclock Lon
don time He met his death with the
same courage that marked his con
duct since his apprehension in flight
from England and his return to Lon
don and through his trial
Miss Leneve did not see her lover
after the painful parting yesterday
She will sail for New York today
under the name of Miss Allen
I Before dying Crippen joinedthe Ro
man Catholic church and received the
last rites of that church
Although Crippens confession was
denied the London Times reprints
the story this afternoon in the third
person and apparently there is no
rway to prove or disprove his confes
sion

lief that Mrs Crippen had been mur
dered They had ascertained that
Mrs Crippen had not been a passen
ger on the liner la Touraine and had
not died in Los Angeles as reported
in the obituary notices They had
also found that Dr Crippen was living
with Miss Ethel Clare Leneve his
pretty typist at the house No 39
Hilldrop Crescent that they claimed
to be married and that the girl wore
Belle Elmores clothes and jewels
July S Chief Detective Inspector
Dew of Scotland Yard visited and in
terviewed Dr Crippen who told him
that his wife Belle Elmore was not
dead but that they had agreed to
separate and that he did not know
what had become of her since she
left him
July 9 Early in the morning of
that day the discovery was made that
Dr Crippen and Miss Leneve ha d
secretly left the house at No 39 Hill

French maid was left in the house

a letter from his employer authorizing
him to sell everything in the house

serted house NoV 39 Hilldrop Cres
cent Chief Inspector Dew found the
remains of a human body buried in
the cellar These were identified as
the remains of Mrs Crippen
July 23 Captain Kendall of the
steamer Montrose reported to Scot
land Yard that Dr Crippen and Miss
Leneve the latter disguised as a
boy were passengers on board his
ship bound for Canada Immediately
upon the receipt of this information
Inspector Dew hurried to Canada
July 31 Inspector Dew of Scotland
Yard disguised as a pilot boarded the
steamer Montrose upon its arrival at
the mouth of the St Lawrence river
and anested Dr Crippen and Miss
Leneve

October 18 Beginning of the trial
of Dr Grippen upon the charge of
murder
October 22 Crippen convicted and

was heard here today on a motion
for a new trial inthe case of Dr W
J McNaughton who was recently
convicted at Swainsboro and sen
tenced to death for the alleged mur
der of Fred Flanders a prominent
planter of Emanuel county The case
has already attracted much attention
throughout this section of Georgia
and the outcome of the efforts to
