It was learned at tho interior department today that the secretary had order ed Special Agents Hawley and Reynolds relieved from duty in connection with the allotment work in tho southwest. Such ac tion was predicted in these dis patches on last Monday. The ac tion is understood to have been a direct result of the complaints which have come to Washington frequently of lafe in recrciico to the manner of conducting the work on tho Kiowar, Comanche and Apache Indian reservation. One of the- ' men is alleged to have hel l religious camp meeting m lit reservation. It is also re ported hero 'that one of tho agents declared without re.-vation that he "thought tho government had no right to allot the lands to tho . In' iliano." This agent stated that he had "conscientious, scruples against carrying out the law." ' It is also rcjiorted here that one of the agents created much dissat isfaction in his camp by making every man give him a title in ad dressing him and also requiring that the members of tho survey ing corps passing near him shall salute him. Mr. C. F. Nesler, one of the department insjiectors, has' U-en place 1 in supreme- control of the men, and it is understood that tho department will not assign two more special agent to the allotting work. Xesler has lxcn found en tirely reliable in suAi important government work and to him will be instructed the work of selecting capable assistants in each of the three ramps already organized. It is thought that the work will proceed even better than when the Fpecia, agents were in charge. A Big Burrry. A Burglar Loots a (jrt d Many Shops and Secures plunder From All of Them.
