The Winnemucea Silver State says that R. Sadler has been elected Governor of Nevada by a plurality of at least 22 votes. Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoe Remedy can always be de pended upon and is pleasant, and safe to take. Sold by R. W. Smith. The effort to establish a national tobacco trust has not proved sue cessful. It is charged that the pro moters "bit off more than they could chew. During the past year for every two million miles of passenger travel in the United States only one per son was killed. Yet we are apt to think railroad traveling is quite dangerous. In 1865, at the close of the civil war, the people of the United States were practically free from debt. The public, private, and corporate debts of the United States now approxi mate forty billion dollars. The strength and permanence of a nation depend upon the masses of the people being independent self reliant home owners. If the gold standard is not abandoned our peo ple are doomed to become a de pendent tenantry. Soothing, healing, cleansing. De Witt's Witch Hazel Salve is the im placable enemy of sores, burns and wounds. It never fails to cure piles. You may rely upon it. Smith's Phar macy. Ike Bowman, the veteran bache lor editor of the Ketchum Keystone, exclaims through his local columns that "Love is like the measles, all the worse when it comes late in life." The old Idaho pioneer doubt less speaks from experience and we may expect to soon read of his mar riage. Bains in the chest when a person has a cold indicate a tendency toward pneumonia. A piece of flannel damp ened with Chanibeslain'g Bain Balm and bound on to the chest over the seat of pain will promptly relieve the pain and prevent the threatened at tack of pneumonia. This same treat ment will cure a lame back in a few hours. Hold by U. W. Smith. The Boise Sentinel says: "Con gressman Gunn has secured a lxiunty land warrant for Mrs. Mat tie R. Sutton, widow of the late Thomas .1. Sutton. The warrant was issued for a service performed by Mr. Sutton in the Rogue river and other Indian wars. Mr. Sutton was at one time connected with the Sentinel, his widow now resides in this city. Mr. Sutton's earliest fight in the Indian line was in 1853, but as the government does not pen sion its Indian fighters after 1842. Mr. Sutton's widow could not obtain a pension and but for Capt. Gunn would not have secured this land warrant." Mrs. Sutton, many years ago, resided at Rocky Bar. There were three women elected to seats in the next Idaho legislat ure. The democrats, republicans and populists each have thus hon ored one of the nominees of the fair sex. Mrs. Mary A. Wright of Koot enai county is thepopuliat member, and is represented to be a woman of marked strength of character and able to fill her place in the legis lature with credit. Mrs. Clara L. Campbell of Ada county, the re publican member, has become l>est known through her services to the Grand Army and Relief Corps; she is energetic, generous and broad minded. Mrs. Hattie F. Noble of Boise county, the democratic rep resentative, is a thorough business woman and well prepared to act upon farming, irrigation and stock interests.—Boise Champion. Mr. Hardin Norris, clerk of the drug store of R. Shoemaker, Berry, Illinois, says: "A man came into our store the other day and said, 'I want a bottle of that stuff that saves children's lives. I read in the News about it. The child ren may get sick when we can not get the doctor quick enough. It's the medicine you sell for croup.' The Washington Silver Knight gives this plain advice to all free the 1 sil ver people: "The first duty of citizens who desire to rescue our held country from the rule of the bondo crats and confederated monopolies , free 1 is to give loyal support to the local : riewspayers that are on the side of the people, and to refuse to longer contribute to the support of mo nopoly organs. Through the con trol of the government the money power and monopolies secure the en actment of laws to enable them to plunder the people. To support their newspapers is as great a folly as it would have been for the Ameri is can soldiers to supply powder to the armies of Spain when opposing them on the field of battle." for The lloise Democrat savs: "Con gressman Gunn in consequence of sickness has not yet left for Wash ington. He has a congressional re cord that is a credit to self as well as state. Congress meets on the first Mon day in December. President Mc - Kinley's message is completed and ready for delivery to congress. It is about twice the usual lenght of such documents and contains 6U, UUÜ words. He and two other boys were playing on the main line hidden in a cloud of steam coming from a locomotive standing on a sidetrack, and could not be seen by the engineer. One of the other boys was slightly injured. When you ask for l)e Witt's Witch Hazel Salve don't accept a counter feit or imitation. Ana—As there is no difference in the price the public will buy only the better, so that while our profits may be smaller on a single sale they will be much greater in the aggregate. How can you get the public to know your make is the best? If both articles are brought promi nently before the public both are cer tain to be tried and the public will very quickly pass judgment on them and use only the better one. This explains the large Rale on Chamberlain's Cough Remedy. The people have been using it for years and have found that it can always be depended upon. They may occas ionally take up with some fashionable novelty with exaggerated claims, but are certain to return to the one r. medy that they know to be reliable, and for coughs, colds and croup there is nothing equal to Chamberlain's Cough Remedy.
