In writ- ,, ....... ing the result to a friend in this city Mr. Mullins said: "I write to tell you of my recent trip to Boise for the purpose of put ting in a sample pumping plant at the store of the Idaho Implement Co , with whom I was on a deal to handle the pump. We installed one of our 6-inch pumps with a 3 horse gasolene engine for power and while I had great confidence in the pump I was hardly prepared for its almost incredulous performance. Lifting as it does—anybody inter ested 1 can see—750 gallons per min ute or 87 miners inches with an ex pense of 2 cents (says the Idaho Implement Co ) per hour, or, ac cording to dutv of the Ridenh&ugh Canal Co., sufficient quantity for 140 acres of land. A pumping out fit of this kind will convert many thousand acres of land within a radius of 25 miles of Boise which is underlain with sheet water at a depth of from 6 to 15 feet, which with these pumps, this land will he converted from desert waste with out value to green fields and fruit ful orchards worth in the raw state from $50 to $100. It looks like an extravagant claim, but this pump has more capacity, twice over, than any other pump on the market and the same is true with reference to cost, liesides a saving of 10 per cent in power and double in length of life on account of being ad justable to take up any wear that may occur." «4 F. la to us lie Notice. The total output in gold from these placers in the past was over $500,000,000. Its area is 10,000 square miles, in which there are to-day less than 1,000 people. Now place 1,000 people in Massachusetts, Connecti cut and Rhode Island and leave the possibility there open for in ment to the rest of mankind, and it would look like a good place to go, wouldn't it?
