The Republican primaries were held here Monday and it is said that all was not as harmonious as could be wished. Two tickets are reported to have been in the field— Morrison and anti-Morrison. Eight delegates were chosen, a majority of those elected being antis. In fact it is asserted that five of the eight chosen are outspoken Gooding men; anyway, they are very emphatical ly feruin8t he of the chills-and fever characteristics. The names of the delegates are.: J. B. Stan field, W. J. Turner, Warren jLock man, W. C. Howie, H. J. Syms, H. O. Manz, B. F. Cook and L. T. Wil cox. These gentlemen will gather here next Saturday with other precinct representatives to elect del egates to the Republicon state nominating convention, which meets in Moscow the sLOth of the present month. From Glenn's Ferry comes re liable information to the effect that the riverside town Republicans have turned down the governor and that a solid anti Morrison delegation will leave that place for Moscow, and inferentially do battle for Frank R. Gooding, the present ubiquitous Republi can state chair* man- The delegates from the Ferry are: Ernest Pearson, Samuel Oliver, William Ward and T. W. Rickard. No one would suspect that a primary election was in progress here last Monday, and few would have known a thing about it had it not been for the disappointed aspi rations of one or two Morrisonites who failed of election. Respectfully, JotiN A. Baulky, Attorney General. (Signed.) Wedding Reception. Attorney L. B. Green returned from Nebraska Saturday night of last week accompanied by bis bride, who was Miss Bertha Stull, July 21st becoming Mrs. Green, at the home of her parents ait Lincoln, Neb. Peace reigned in Mountain Home until Monday night at 10, when the standing reception committee in such cases made and provided waited on Mr. Green and inyited him to toe the Bcratch. He com plied, because, even if he wished it there was no way out of it, but this didn't seem to be the case at all. To the stirring strains of "In the Evening b.y the Moonlight" with tin can accompaniment Mr. Green cheerfully ran the gauntlet and in consideration of the meek spirit shown by the victim he waB per mitted to return to his waiting bride at an early hour. Mr. and Mrs. Green, we learn, in tend taking up their residence in the dwelling opposite the Turner house. Assessor vs. Bank. Assessor Mundell was the prime mover in a large-sized sensation to the officers of the Glenn's Ferry bank last Friday, when he closed the bank doors and placed two men jn charge thereof pending some kind of settlement of a demand made by him for $771.12 taxes due the county of Elmore, which the bank officials declined to pay. The com missioners, acting as a board of equalization, had just raised the assessment up to $19,750, directing the assessor to levy on this sum, which levy made the total tax as above stated. Jim reported that he was roundly abused for the action he took; that he was accused of being a willing tool of the Moun tain Home local banks, who were charged with being responsible for the step taken by the assessor, and he was assured he would occupy a felon's cell before noon of the follow ing day. But this didn't happen. And it developed that the local banks were totally ignorant of the entire proceeding until long after the facts were common property on the streets here after Mr. Mundell's return from the Ferry. Now, how ever, the bank people at the Ferry have applied for and an injunction has been issued by Judge Price re straining the assessor from further action until the matter has been in the courts, the bank officials placing in escrow a certified check covering the amount claimed by that official. Ferry bank is again doing business at the same old stand just as if this little tempest had never happened, and most of us wish it never bed, too. And the Glenn's Phillips Bros. Get It.
