Opportunities at Bonners Ferry Bonners Ferry Is the principal town r the north end of Koolei.il coun.y, Ida:.., beautifully situated r.. ihe head f nav. gallon on the Koofnal river, wltu auou 600 population. It .« the comme, cial au.i social center of the great Kootenai on the main line of the Ureat No railroad, the northern terminus 01 .m Kootenai Valley railioad, and about 0 1 miles from the British possessions. The surface and character 01 ttie coun try tributary to Bonners Ke.ry are ag;ce ably various. Beginning wttn alluvial flats along the river, about HO,000 acres, ot prali le and grass lands, chiefly valuabi* for stock raising, dairying and kindred Industries. Then the great tab.e ol pencil lands extending back to the mountains, covered with one of Idaho's grea.est for ests of pine, fir, tamarack and cedar. Tne Northern Pacific Railway company own ed all the odd numbered sections, nod has sold most ol its holdings to se:Uc. in the last few yea s; the even numbered sections, or government lands, are being rapidly taken as homes lead-, and a few file under the timber and stone act. these bench lands the soil is good, plenty of good water, plenty ot rainfall and no Irrigation needed. On most of the claims there is a spot where there is lit tle or no heavy limber, where It is eas ily cleared; here the settler commences farming operations. Some of the older »ettlers have splendid orchards, bearing all kinds of northern grown fruits of most excellent quality, and the newcomers are all setting out young orchards. Timothy, clover and the cereals are yielding abund antly, as well as all root crops and ber rles Rich grass grows all through the timber and On the bald hills, furnishing unlimited grazing for cattle. There is ai least one wagon road on every township surveyed In Ihe valley leading to and fioin Bonners Ferry. Settlers wisely leave the heavy timber stand on their claims to sell to lumbermen when wanted. There is yet a great deal 01 government .and In the valley subject to entry under the homestead and stone and timber acis. with more or less limber on all of It, bur, naturally, the best locations and the best timbered Claims are taken and those re m.lining aie chiefly suitable for home steads, rather than timber claims. These are to be found from 5 to 20 miles from the town and trom 1-4 to 5 miles from a railroad and large river. Sotne of the main valley and most of the Literal Valleys ate yet unsurveyed. In * h '>.8 unsurveyed localities are to be found •ome splendid farming and timbered hands, with some fine buJi.s of white pint mid cedar. Now is the lime to take up claims; .he time for selling them lias not yet ar rived. Just as soon as some cf the pro posed sawmills are built and operated at Bonners Forty there will be an unlim ited market lor timber, and the supply will be as unlimited as the demand. The lumbering Industry has not yet begun; there is no limber being cut oi* marke. - ed; it is ail awaiting the erection and op eration of sawmills here. There are gieat opportunities for In dustrious people to gel cheap homes here and to engage in agricultural, hur.icullu rai and stock raising pursuits on any scale, large or small; there are still greater oppoitunliles lor sawmill men to engage In the manufacture of lumber on any scale, but especially on a large scale. A good quality ol yellow pine, red hr. tamarack and cedar can be bought in large or small qinurl les al ÎI pe ■ loot, stumpage, or the timber land can bought lor from $3 to $10 per acre, all along as line a river as (lows anywhere. Splendid facilities for manufacturing and shipping exist at Bonners Ferry. With good freight rates, we have the world for a market. Don't write too much fot Information, but If you want anything come and get it; that is what the rest ol them are doing. If you don't do It you will he loo late.
