ORDINANCE NO. 92 Regulating 1 pool-billiard room or halls, bowling alleys or shooting galleries and providing license therefore; prohibiting minors under the age of twenty years to fre quent, resort to, loiter or plav therein, and providing fines and penalties for the violation thereof and providing for the cancellation and revocation of any license for violation of this ordinance in the village of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Be it ordained by the Chairman and Board of Trustees of the Village of Bonners Ferry, Idaho: Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any one to run or operate any pool-billiard room or hall, bowling alley or shooting gallery, within the Village of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, without a license; in order to secure a license for any business mentioned herein, the license must bo paid to the marshall of the Village, which must be attached to the application made to the Chairman and Board of Trustees of said village for a li cense; the license may be granted or denied; the application must name the building, lot and block. Section 2. If the license is grant ed the clerk of the board must issue the came to the applicant, naming the kind of business to be run under the license and no other busi ness can be run in connection with said business, only that mentioned in said license; no license is trans w. s. s. Section 5. It shall be unlawful for any owner, proprietor, lessee, keener or person in charge (with or without hire) of billiard hall, pool i room, bowling alley or shooting gal ferable. Section 3. When any person, com oration so licensed shall of a violation of any . ., ... . -..I lary in said . village to permit or allow any minor under the age of twenty years to frequent, resort to, or loiter in any such billiard hall, pool room, bowling alley or shoot mg gallery, or to play at billiards, pool, bowl or shoot in such place; any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall on conviction be guilty of a misdemeanor and be fined not less than ten dollars or more than one hundred or by im prisonment in the village jail not exceeding thirty days or by both. Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication in Herald, passage, approval and the Bonners Ferry a weekly newspaper pub lished in said village. Attorney Frank Bottom returned today from Kalispell, Mont., where he spent ,se\ eral days looking after legal business for local clients. Miss Vera Jones returned here Saturday, tho school where she has- been teaching the pqst term, having closed Friday. Emery Kinnear returned Wednes day evening from Spokane, driving a new six cylinder five passenger Nash auto which he purchased for his '.ather last Tuesday. Last week the store fronts of Richardson & Monks and The Fif teen Cent Store were improved with fresh coats of paint. The work was done by H. W. Bliss. Last Thursday in probate court George C. Wade resigned as trustee of the Soo Kee estate and F. A. Shultis was appointed trustee by Probate Judge Henderson. Kent, of the city schools, states that he has received an ac ceptance from Miss Esther Burger, of Mulberry, Kans., as teacher of science for the coming year, new science teacher is highly recom mended. The Probate Judge E. R. Henderson went to Eastport Sunday and held church services for the Eastport people Sunday afternoon. The servi ces were attended by a large crowd and Mr. Henderson's talk was well received. Storm, former'v assistant cashier of the First National Bank of this city, was in the city Thurs day enroute to Montana points where he expected to spend a day or two on business. Mr. Storm is located at Cheney, Wash. The Herald this week received a letter from Vic Kuehn in which ho stated that he would be glad to give the use this summer of an acre tract on the Northside to the Red Cross. The Red Cross members will act on the offer this week. O. M. Elliott, president of the state normal school at lÆwiston, Idaho, was in the city last Thurs day, visiting the local schools. Thurs day afternoon, Pres. Elliott addressed the high school students of the Bon ners Ferry high schools. S. E. Henry received a letter yes terday from his son, Patrick Henry, a first petty officer of the U. S. navy and stationed at Norfolk, Va., stating that he exnected to leave on his first ocean trip shortly, ship will act as one of a convoy fleet. Arthur Humphrey went to Spo kane last Tuesday and applied to enlist in the aftny as a truck driver. Humphrey was turned down in the physical examination on account of throat trouble. He may undergo an operation in order to fit himself for service. Jos. Jacoby, superintendent of the Bonners Ferry Lumber Company sawmill, states that trial alarms of the fire whistle at the mill will be given Thursday of this week. The trial alarms will be sounded at 6.00 and 7.30 a. m.; at noon and at 1.00 and 5.30 p. m. A. M. Dorrah has arranged to sell at auction his herd of dairy cows. A number of various articles and tools and implements will be sold. The auction will be conducted by I. Causton at the Fitzpatrick barn Saturday at 1:30 o'clock. Otto F. Mathiesen will act as clerk. The W. C. T. U. will meet Fri day afternoon at the home of Mrs. W. H. Castle. Mrs. Ella McGlock lin. chairman of the Armenian Re lief Committee, requests that al' members having sewing for the Ar menian Relief work, bring it to Mrs. Castle's home Friday afternoon. H. B. Carratt left yesterday for Hussar, Alberta,. where he plans to spend several months breaking new ground on a recently purchased ranch, putting up buildings and fenc es. His family will remain here this summer and have leased the W. P. Mahoney residence in Park addition. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Guthrie, of Copeland, passed through the city Saturday on their way home from Fort Stevens, Oreg., where they had been visiting with their son, Chaun cey Guthrie, a member of the Na tional army. Chauncey Guthrie" ac companied his parents home and will remain at Coneland for a time on sick leave. He was dangerously ill at Fort Stevens for some weeks with pneumonia but is now improving in health. Yesterday morning at Sandpoint, heard H. E. His Judge Flynn, arguments in the Anderson vs. Anderson divorce case and granted $25 monthly ali mony, $15 suit money and $25 dol lars attorneys fees to plaintiff and issued an order restraining the de fendant from disposing of property or interfering with the plaintiff or plaintiff's children pending final set tlement. S. E. Henry appeared for the plaintiff and E. W. Wheelan for the defendant. ORDINANCE NO. 93 To prohibit the use of cigarettes, cigars, or tobacco in any form by minors under the age of twenty one years; prohibiting all persons from furnishing any cigarettes or tobacco in any form to minors; prohibiting all minors from f re quenting any promises for the pur pose qf indulging in the use of tobacco, and making it a misde meanor for any person to give or furnish cigarettes or tobacco to minors. Be it ordained by the Chairman and Board of Trustees of the Village of Bonners Ferry, Idaho: Section 1. Every minor under the age of twenty-one years, who shall smoke or use cigarettes, cigars or tobacco in any form, or in any public road, alley, street or place in the Village of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, shall be guilty of a misde meanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished for each offense by a fine of not more than ten dol lars; and every person who shall furnish any cigarettes, cigars or to bacco in any form, to such minor, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by fine of not less than twenty-five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars or imprisoned in the village jail not exceeding thirty days, or by both. Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage, approval and ublication in the Bonners Ferry Herald, a weekly newspaper pub lished in said Village.
